The membrane air separation system, a schematic of which is included in the attachment, consistsis

comprised of a tank supplying dry air(79% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen) connected via a series of
tubes[WHICH METAL]in a tube/shell formation. This flow leads through a pressure regular and an initial
flow-meter and continues on to two membrane modules each containing a bundle of polymeric fibers.
Once the air passes through the membrane modules, the flow leads to a second flow-meter and an
oxygen analyzer for both the shell and tube.

The 3-way control valves on the apparatus were set up in a parallel configuration. Our measurements
were taken by carefully adjusting both the intake valve on the dry air tank and the valve to adjust the
flowrate. The apparatus contained LED readouts of for the flow-meter and the pressure regular, so by
keeping the pressure at a constant level[40 psig], the flowrate was set at three different levels[10,15,20
L/min] and measurements were taken of the flowrate[L/min] at the second flowmeter and the oxygen
levels[%] of both the tube and shell.
