Some students make massive impressions on their teachers, They create tectonic shifts in personal dynamics within and
without the classroom, or they are so memorable for their individual personalities, teachers forever associate them with
«first name oF a particular look or sound. In contrast, the students who are measured, regular, consistent, and
Auiet--sometimes these are the students who don’t seem to make a lasting impression on their teachers, Ironically, these
‘may be the ones we need to remember the most. They are the ones who spend ther time, energy, and resources,
thoughtfully and consistently--not recklessly in one fell swoop, not with a flash and then they're gone.
Erin, upon first glance, is such student, She’s relatively quiet and reflective, and she never tried to make explosive
impressions on me, Yet I remember Erin most for her infectious smile, her gentle and insightful spirit, and her judicious
use of her time and talents in slow, steady, measured ways that, while not flashy, ae equally impressive and effective.
(One of those steady, measured ways Brin has about her is her respect for others with whom she finds herself in
disagreement, Rather than engaging in brash, confrontational polemic, Ms. Travis remains ealm and steady both in her
face-to-face encounters and in her writing, She is gentle, yet firm. She is calm, yet decisive. Once again, her personality
snd her performance don’t tend to inject her into the explosive forefiont, but she is a powerful foree of ealm and steady
resolution one would do well to notice,
Erin Travis has the work ethic necessary for her to be highly suecessful atthe collegiate level. Her quiet but diligent
work ethic, her innate drive and her diligence all place Ms. Travis in a superior position of future academic success, She
