Katachi Amti - Marathi Recipe

Introduction

Katachi amti is an authentic, traditional, Maharashtrian recipe. It is a must with puran poli. It is made using
chana dal stock which is used to make puran poli. It is made in different ways. Today we are not adding any
tamarind and gudh. Let’s try this hot and spicy katachi amti.

Ingredients

For Amti Masala:


2 tsp Coconut
1 tsp Oil
3~4 Garlic cloves
1 medium size sliced Onion

For Amti:
2 tsp Oil
1 tsp Goda masala
1 tsp Red chili powder
Chana dal stock
Salt to taste

Method

For Amti Masala:


Heat up a pan and add coconut.
Roast until coconut nice and red.
Transfer the roasted coconut into a blender jar.
In the same pan add oil, garlic cloves and onion.
Fry until onion turns nice and red.
Transfer the onion into blender jar and blend.
Vatan or masala for amti is already.

For Amti:
Heat up a pan and add oil.
Add blended masala, goda masala and red chili powder.
Fry masala on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes.
When oil begins to release from sides, add chana dal stock and salt to taste.
Mix well and boil amti for about 7-8 minutes. Katachi amti is a bit runny.
Turn off the gas and katachi amti is already.
Serve it with hot puran poli and ghee.
