According to the topic spoken in the video, 70% of people in Sabah are foreigner.

Nowadays, we are
seeing a lot of foreigners like Bangladesh, India and the Middle East are getting to our country either
Sabah, Sarawak and peninsular. They even getting married to Malay girls and received Malaysian
citizenship. There are good and bad for this country. Based on the issues that we are struggling, it
can be related to the Industrial Relationship in Chapter 8 which is this can be highlighted as bad
effect towards people in this country.

Industrial Relation is the relationship between an employer and the trade union which represent his
workers. It can be related because the main reason foreigners are getting in here is because of work
opportunities. Malaysia is one of countries that accepting foreigner workforces and there are more
and more foreigners working here that forced the ministry of HRM in IR to change policy like
establishes the right of employers and employees. Dealing with local employees and foreigner
employees are different so the ministry of HRM need to be fair to put both in the same level that can
be an issue towards local people. As we all know that Malaysia people need to be in the first place
but due to the amount of foreigner employees are much than our people, the ministry of HR need to
be fair towards their workforces that have been given.

One of issues is that locals are being deprived and discriminated in their rewards system. Local
workers are threatened by foreign workers’ low requirement of payment, quality of work, and other
fringe benefits. Foreign workers who can bear with lower incomes and unfavorable terms and
conditions of employment are more sought by local employers, since main purpose of foreign
workers is to gain sufficient income in a short period of time.

Another issue is about trade which the foreigner will join the trade unions for a variety purpose and
the union trades also need to change a few things in order to be fair towards every employee. There
are 3 types of union and some of them are interested to join to voice out their voices. Having a trade
can also make the foreigner feel strong to protect their rights. But as the local, we do not want to
share our specialities with others people. The employers also need to be careful and know how to
negotiate with the employee in order to survive.
