Growth Trajectory

When I was in 9th grade, I had terrible presentation skills. When I would present, I would

have my hands in my pockets which isn’t professional. I would also tend to read off the screen

because I would forget the information that I was presenting. I also wasn’t good at presenting

because I wouldn’t speak loud enough. But now as a senior, after having completed many

projects which require an oral presentation, I have gotten lots of practice, which has helped me

become better at presenting. Now when I present, I have a good posture. I’ve also learned to

memorize most of my presentations so I won’t have to read off flash cards or the screen. I also

speak louder now without being asked. This skill will help me because now I feel more

comfortable to talk in front of a large group of people.

In 9th grade I was also shy. People would always tell me to speak up because i would talk

low. I also wouldn’t participate often in class. After a while, being shy was affecting my grades

in a negative way. So I decided to change, and presentations helped me get practice speaking to

large audiences. Now in my senior year I’ve become more outgoing. Like now I like presenting

assignments and projects. I also like to be the facilitator/manager, when working in groups

because it allows me to keep everybody on track. I also enjoy working in groups because we

finish quicker when working together when we communicate. Being outgoing will help me when

I need help or have a question because I won’t feel nervous to ask a question.

One bad trait that I had as a 9th grader was that I was careless. I would sleep in class, and

wouldn’t complete my assignments. I would also get distracted easily. But since I wouldn’t do
what I should have, I had to take summer school. This is what encouraged me to do better

because I didn’t want to waste another summer retaking a class. Now as a senior I have become

studious. Now am motivated to pass all of my classes. I complete all of my assignments on time.

I also make up missing assignments when I am absent. Being studious and on top of your game

will help me when me when I’m employed because my hard work and effort will be noticed.
