41 Aim of the tests
The following report includes extruding, drying and firing tests made in the laboratory and
results from two clays samples sent by P007, The aim was to develop a production mixture
with the best behavior during the extrusion, drying, and firing to be used for the design of a
plant for the bricks production.
2 Material used
2.1 Grinding
The laboratory grinding is made from two
cylinders witch one are with two different
rotations speeds and with a friction
pressure process it decreases the clay
size, The samples are separately crushed
in the laboratory roller with gap width of 1.5
millimeters.

2.2: Kneading mixer
The laboratory kneading mixer is a mechanic
used to mix between 15 to 20 kilograms clay
with the addition water. The machine is done
with a rotation metal bowl and a top closed on
witch one are fixed pallets and squeegees.
The clay is addicted in the center of the mixer
and the water is gradually added, the mix is
constantly checked until to obtain a
homogenous substance and subsequently
formed into various test samples for the
shaping using.
