This year I wrote a lot more essays than I have in other years.

I think that I have gotten better at

written work and sharpened my writing techniques. This was an important thing to learn because

a good piece of work has to have good sentence structure, grammar and has to make the reader

feel like they wasted time by reading your work. I think that this year I learned the most about

writing than other years as of yet. I think that I got better by identifying my strengths and

weaknesses and targeting them to make them better.

I one thing that I think that I have done better since the beginning of the year is my grammar and

punctuation in writing. I worked on this in IXL and it helped with verbs and fronted adverbials

so I could make my writing more interesting. I used to sometimes put boring words into my work

but now I use a thesaurus to use words that would fit in better in a sentence. I also used to say

things that I meant to say in the conclusion in the introduction or first couple paragraphs so I

learned to weave it in so then I could say it at the right time. This was easier to change since then

it made sense once it was pointed out to me. I think that the worst essay I did was one of my

Compare and Contrast essays about Rain because it had a bad introduction and conclusion which

I got better at making.

This year I learned how to write different types of essays, compare and contrast, expository and

debates. These were all things that are useful to know and I think that I did them well. When I

didn’t get all the things that I needed to include I corrected them quickly because it wasn’t a huge

thing that I missed. I think the best piece of work that I have done is my persuasive speech about

Reading. This was because I used all of the AFOREST techniques that made a persuasive work

persuade people. I also think it was good because it didn’t have any grammar mistakes.
Although I learned a lot this year, there are still some things that I could improve. I could still

work on making thesis statements clearer and making conclusions better. Also, I could work on

endings in stories that I made because in my Sinbad story, it ended abruptly and didn’t include

much of a falling action. I could make these better by writing stories more often so then I will be

able to write better endings. I could work on all of these because I learned the basis from this

year.
