INTRODUCTION OF CABLES
Havells manufactures HT XLPE cables up to 66KV conforming to
National and International Standards at Alwar plant.
Havells has State-of-the-Art HT cable plant having two CCV lines.
Havells HT plant is complete with heavy duty machines for wire
drawing and conductor stranding, drum twister, armouring,
sheathing and packing. Computerised control system ensures
optimum efficiency, fast start up, synchronized operations of
compound feeds, CCV line gas temperature zones, crosshead
having diameter control device SIKORA - German Made.
Nevertheless havells XLPE cables compare better than those
produced with older plants when checked for Microvoids, Moisture
content, PD levels & dielectric strength.
Conductors
Conductors shall be round stranded, Compacted circular as per
Class 2 to IS 8130 - 84.
Insulation
XLPE Insulation material and thickness shall be as per IS 7098
Part - 2 rated for 900C continuous operation.
Tripple extrusion of semicon XLPE & semicon compound over
conductor by CCV line with online dry Curing.
Screen
Copper tape or Copper wire according to requirement over the
insulated core.
Colour Code
Colour code is mentioned in IS 7098 Part - 2 and accordingly
followed by HAVELLS
For Multicore - Red, Yellow & Blue with coloured strips under the
copper tape screen.
For Single Core - Natural Colour
Laid-up/inner sheath
Three insulated cores are laid-up together with suitable fillers to form
the cable and the laid-up cable is sheathed with an extruded layer of
PVC called inner sheath.
Armour
Armour shall comprise of either
Galvanized Steel Wires in accordance with IS: 3975 - 99 laid helically
over inner sheath as per requirement.
Galvanized Steel flat strips applied helically over inner sheath in
accordance with IS: 7098 Part - 2.
Outer Sheath
Outer Sheath shall be of Extruded PVC Type ST2 as per IS: 7098
Part-2. Special type of PVC sheathing material such as Fire Retardant
PVC, Anti-termite PVC, Anti-rodent PVC, Sunlight resistant PVC are
available on special request.
