My name is Carly Angel and I am a junior at River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland.
This year I am enrolled in my schools Independent Research class where I am currently
researching the effects of social media on fast fashion and sustainable fashion. I believe that your
knowledge of the fashion industry will help me understand how fast fashion has become such a
critical part of our society and how sustainable fashion brands are trying to combat this.

Through conducting background research I found that the most successful ways to advertise
revolve around social media and the internet. This is because most people's lives involve
technology. The goal of my research is to figure out how big of an impact it has had on the rise
of fast fashion, and how sustainable brands are trying to market their products to consumers in
the same ways. I am looking for articles or information on how social media is used in the
fashion industry, and if it is possible for ethically made clothing to help with the environmental
and social issues that fast fashion has caused.
