Hot-rolled Steel Plates, Sheets and Coils

Standard steel grades, comparison,

designations and codes

www.ruukki.com
Raahe Works manufactures steel grades that are in compliance with the European EN standards and other international standards.
Standard steel grades are manufactured in plates and sheets, coil products and shop-primed plate products. To meet our custom-
ers’ needs, we can also deliver plates and sheets with a number of prefabrications such as cut to shape, bent and with edge bevels.
This data sheet contains information on the most common structural and pressure equipment steels in compliance with EN stand-
ards. Further information on our standard steel grades is available in the following data sheets.

The structural and pressure equipment steels manufactured in compliance with the European EN standards are either “non-alloyed”
or “alloyed” steels in accordance with standard EN 10020. These steels are divided into “quality steels” and “special steels”.

• Structural steels complying with the standard

The standard series EN 10025 Parts 1–6 defines European hot-rolled structural steels. Ruukki Raahe Works is authorised to grant
the European CE marking to steel grades that are in compliance with standards EN 10025-2, -3, -4 and -5 as well as to the steel grade
S690 QL EN 10025-6. The CE marking is marked on an extra page of the inspection certificate.

• Structural pressure equipment steels complying with the standard

The quality management system of Raahe Works is certified in accordance with the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Direc-
tive (PED). Ruukki can therefore give an inspection certificate that is in compliance with PED for EN pressure equipment steels
if agreed upon when making the order. The inspection certificate is then marked with the following code: EN 10204:2004-3.1/PED
97/23/EC.

EN 10028-1+A1:2009:
“Flat products made of steels for pressure purposes. Part 1: General requirements”

Ruukki Raahe Works does not manufacture quenched and tempered steels in accordance with standard EN 10028 Part 6 or stainless
steels for pressure purposes in accordance with Part 7 of the same standard.
