Reviews data-based studies on human figure drawings and concludes that there is
little support for their validity or for their use as devices to assess
personality, behavior, emotion, or intellectual functioning. Ease of administration
and anecdotal reports of predictive accuracy are presented as explanations for
their continued usage. Existing valid measures of behavioral and cognitive
