Macaroni and Cheese 

 
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 
 
INGREDIENTS: 
 
1 ½ C. Elbow Macaroni 
¼ C. Butter 
¼ C. Flour 
½ tsp. Salt 
2 C. Milk 
½ C. American Cheese (Velveeta) (You can use any type of cheese 
that has good melting consistency. Gouda, etc.) 
1 to 2 Italian Sausage or Polish Sausage (You can use any kind of 
meat you want or vegetables.) 
Cheddar Cheese 
2 Green Onion, ​Chopped  
2 Slices Bread ​(Spread butter and garlic salt over the top.) 
 
DIRECTIONS: 
 
1. Fill small ​Dutch Oven​ ½ full with water. Cook macaroni on 
high​ in boiling water with lid on part way until tender ​AL 
DENTE​. Drain into a ​colander​ and set aside. 
2. Meat: ​sauté​ the sausage (or whatever meat you have chosen) in 
a frying pan until browned and cooked. Drain any grease off. 
3. You can add any type of vegetables you want into this just 
sauté​ them ahead of time. 
 
Sauce: 
1. In a medium saucepan using a​ wooden spoon, melt butter, 
blend in flour and cook and stir for 2 minutes 
2. Add milk and cook and stir until thick and bubbly – on 
medium heat 
3. Cut American cheese (Velveeta) into ​cubes​ and add to milk, 
and stir until melted 
4. Season to taste with salt and pepper 
 
Assemble: 
1. Butter or spray with PAM the casserole dish 
2. Put ½ the macaroni in the bottom of the casserole dish 
3. Pour ½ the sauce over it 
4. Layer the meat and green onion on top 
5. Layer the remaining macaroni on top 
6. Pour remaining sauce on top 
7. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top 
8. Butter the bread and season, then cut into cubes 
9. Sprinkle bread on top 
10. ​Bake in preheated 350 oven for 30 minutes – or until cheese 
melts and bread browns.
