To Whom It May Concern,
It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Erin Croix for a
teaching position in your district. I have known Erin professionally for over two
years and servedasher supervisor inthe USC Jumpstart Program.
Over the time I worked with Erin, I was impressed with her deep commitment to
serving children in our most underserved communities in the Los Angeles area. She
demonstrated this commitment as the program manager for the Jumpstart program by
recruiting corps members who demonstrated their belief in equity and quality
education for students we serve. Under her leadership and training of Jumpstart
corps members, preschool students consistently improved their reading readiness as
demonstrated in the Jumpstart reading readiness assessment.
In my observation of Erin's leadership skills, curriculum development and
organizational skills I have a unique perspective, as her immediate supervisor, but
also as a former superintendent for over 20 years, and as an educator for over 40
years. From my many years of experience, I have known very few young leaders
with Erin's natural ability to inspire those she works with to provide the best
instructional environment in their classroom settings to meet the individual
needs of students. Erin combines this with a strong work ethic and core values of
honesty, integrity and responsibility.
In addition to her day to day work as Jumpstart program manager, Erin developed
partnerships with many of our Rossier faculty, the USC Alliance for Civic
Engagement, and other community networks surrounding our university campus,
Not one to sit on her laurels, Erin continued to grow both professionally and
personally. She attended multiple events hosted by the USC Race and Equity
Center, Family Engagement focus groups, and participated in the Transformative
workshops held by our Rossier faculty. Erin's also continued to learn more about
anti-bias training and become a critical reflective leader, committed to learning more
about becoming an anti-bias educator and shared this training with her corps
members.

1 strongly believe Erin’s passion for education, her strong academic background, her
commitment to meeting the needs of all students, specifically those who have not been
served well by our school systems, has laid the foundation for her to be an excellent
teacher. As mentioned earlier, as an educator for over 40 years, I have observed many
young teachers in my career, and I can state without a doubt, Erin has the potential to
become a teacher I would immediately hire her at my school and school system.
If you looking to hire a teacher with a strong commitment to serving all students, working
with parents, who consistently looks to continue to improve her professional knowledge
and skills, is a strong collaborator with her peers, then I strongly encourage you to
consider Erin for a position in your district. I expect Erin to become a teacher of the year
in a school system soon after she is hired. I strongly recommend her for a teaching position
in your distriet.
