Describe your experiences using resources, including concerns encountered when

conducting academic research through the Ashford University Library. Areas of concern
may include developing a research strategy, using the search function within a database, or
evaluating sources.
During the last couple of years, I have had great success using the Ashford library. When

I first started school I was overwhelmed with how much information was at my fingertips.

Growing up we did not have the internet; it was just coming out when I graduated high school.

My family relied on the Ecyclopedia Britannica set that we had at our home and would

occasionally use the community library or the one at our school. Some of the areas of concern

that I have is finding the articles or resources, some links will not open for me, or I will receive

and error message. This might be occurring because I live in a rural area and sometimes the

internet is extremely slow or fails to connect.

Explain how using the Ashford University Library has improved your experience in
conducting research. For example, you could identify and explain how specific tutorials
that you have used have helped improve your ability to conduct research.
I believe that by using the Ashford library, my research skills have sharpened over the

last couple years. Before this, I would generally take any article for its face worth, now I

research the date and authenticity of what I read. Luckily this is also rubbing off on a fellow

family member that has always believed everything they read and not thought about the source in

which it came from.

The tutorials that I have experienced have been helpful, the last class I finished required a

lot of hand on experiments and following step-by-step processes. Luckily these instructions

came with links about how to properly setup and follow the instructions to provide the correct

results.
