Law creates new Tabuk ba rangay

Duterte siSned into law Republic Act
(RA) 113 28, ceating a new barangay
(village) in this component city.
RA 11328, which Rep. Allen Jesse
Mangaoang authored, separates the
sitio ofGuina-ang Madopdup, Mal.
lango, Lanlana and San Pablo ftom
Barangay LacnoS; and constitutes
them into a separate barangay to be
known as Lacnog West.
The law which the President
signed on April 17, provides that
the separated srtro constituting the

new barangay have an area of about
5,702, 292 squarc metem.
Pumuant to Section 10 of RA
7160, otherwise known as the "ln-
cal Government Code of 1991,"
Barangay Lacnog West shall exist
upon approral by a majority of the
votes cast by the qiralified voters of
the barangay in a plebiscite to be
conducted and supeMsed, by the
Commission on Elections (Come-
lec) in the affected area not later
than 120 dap ftom the effectivity
ofthe law.

The law also provides that the
Tabuk clty govemment will provide
the funds for the plebiscite; and that
the first set of barangay officials of
Barangay Lacnog West shall be ap-
pointed by the provincial govemor,
and hold office until such time that
the! sucqesqon shall have been duly
elected and qualified.
Based on the approved law all
public inftastncture and facilities
for public use existing at the time of
the approlal ofthe act will be trans-
fefied without cost or compensation
to and shall be administered by the
new barangay
Mangaoang said Lacnog West
would be the 43rd barangay of
Tabuk City.
The Regional Development
Council is eyeing Tabuk City as the
future regional center ofthe Cordil-
lera. lt has vast tracks of lands that
could be developed into industrial
and commercial sit€s to entice inves-
ton to consider the Cordillera as one
of their investment hubs.
