Dear Year 7

The aim of this letter is to introduce myself to you. You must be very bewildered by all
the new names and faces around you so I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a
little about who I am and what I do. After all, we may be seeing each other several times
a week for the next five years.

I have only been teaching English here at Kettering Science Academy since 1 st September
2017, but I was at my previous school for 8 years. I have always loved reading and hope
that you will read lots of exciting books during your time here.

I was born in Romania 32 years ago and spent the following 20 years living in the UK. I
finally settled in the Northampton area 6 years ago. My earliest memories of living in
Romania are of summers spent on the beach with my family and eating lots of ice-cream!
My family still live in Romania so I get to spend my summer holidays relaxing on a beach.

My father works in the oil industry and my mother works in a secondary school as a
SENCO. I have two sisters: one older (who is also a teacher!) and one younger (who is
currently a stay-at-home mum to my adorable niece). As you can see, I come from a
family of teachers. Living by the coast as we grew up meant my parents insisted we all
had swimming lessons to be safe when on the beach. For most of my teenage life I had to
endure early morning training sessions before school, but fortunately I now get to enjoy a
bit of a lie-in.

My house has a small garden with lots of flowers and I enjoy sitting out on the patio,
where I often mark books or read. In the summer the garden is my favourite part of my
house. In the winter I like to snuggle on my sofa wrapped in a duvet to read my books.
My favourite writers include Jane Austen and George Eliot, who, surprisingly, was a
woman. I enjoy listening to music and try to see lots of live gigs in my spare time. I enjoy
going to festivals as you can see a wide range of different bands at once. One thing I do
enjoy doing is going shopping for shoes; currently I own over 70 pairs and my collection is
constantly growing!

I do hope that you will enjoy your time at Kettering Science Academy and that you will
write a letter to me so that I can learn a little about you too.

Yours sincerely

Miss Magdas
