METHOD OF LIFTING
Machines with Base
41. Use 3/4" ciameter eyebolts only for series 40 and 41
(Eyebotts are not supplied with machine. Hofiman recom-
rmends drop-forged, weldiess shoulder patter threaded
eyebolts. using full size flat washer and nut, screwed all the
\:ey down, properly seated, See page 1 for Do's and Don's
of eyebolt usage)
2. Allother units are equipped with iting holes in the
mounting base.
3. Soreader bars MUST be used wien iting to prevent
Gamage to equipment.

panels, switches and starters until you are sure all power
's off and no residual voltage can leak trom capacitors or
solid-state components,
"Lock open and tag electrical circuits during servicing,
| work is interrupted, confirm that all circuits are de-
energized before resuming work.
DO NOT operate the Unit without some device on the
inlet (Le. screen guard, fiter) that will prevent foreign
objects from being ingested.
CAUTION:
= DO NOT climb over the Unit, Use platform, catwalk, or
other staging. Follow safe practices when using ladders.
= Use mechanical equipment (i2. crane, hoist to lift or
move any heavy components, Even if components are
light, use such equipment when there is a «sk of slipping
oF losing your balance.
Be aware that certain automatic start arrangements
may engage the starter. Open and lock out the
disconnect ahead of the starter in addition to shutting
off the equipment.
"Use only repair or replacement parts that meet the
speaific requirements ofthe original equipment.
Double-check that coupling nuts are tight and that nut
‘wrenches, dial indicators or other items have been
removed before rotating any shafts
DO’S AND DON’TS OF EYEBOLT USAGE:
‘DO stand well clear of a load when lifting,
1DO be sure thatthe eyebott is screwed all the way
down and properly seated.
DO use a shoulder rather than a plain pattem eyebolt
whenever possible, nd ALWAYS for angular its.
‘DO inspect and clean threads on the eyebot and nut
before reusing.
DO NOT grind, stamp or mark an eyebott with
sharp tools or instruments,
DO NOT paint or opaque an ayebolt.
DO NOT exceed the recommended capacity of an eyebolt
DO NOT use an eyebolt that has been subjected to
temperatures above 900°F (480°C)
DO NOT ever use an eyedolt that shows elongation or
bending in either the eye or the shank section.
