Brazilian Boy Rhuan Maycon Had His Penis Cut

Off A Year Before He Was Butchered

The women accused of killing the 9-year-old-boy kept him at home and kept him from
going to school. His 8-year-old sister was witness to his murder and was reunited with her
father yesterday.

In Samambaia, an 8-year-old-girl lived in fear. Kept from going to school for at least two
years, she leaved home to attend church only. Inside her house she had few freedoms and
the signs of maltreatment were visible. This suffering ended yesterday morning, when the
small girl managed to be reunited with her father, Rodrigo Oliveira, a public employee. He
learned of his daughter’s whereabouts after the murder of her stepbrother, Rhuan Maycon,a
9-year-old boy that was murdered by his own mother, Rosana Auri da Silva Candido, 27,
and by her partner, Kacyla Priscyla Santiago Damasceno, 28, the girl’s mother.

Kacyla ran away with her daughter from Rio Branco, Acre, in 2014, together with Rosana
and Rhuan. They lived in dozens of adresses, such as Trindade (GO), Goiânia (GO) and
Aracaju (SE), until they got to the Federal District. For two months they’ve lived in
Samambaia, in the house where the boy was murdered and butchered. It is not yet known if
the girl saw the moment of Rhuan’s death, but as soon as she got to the police station, she
drew a bloody body with the organs exposed. The women said to the investigators of the
26th Police Department (North Samambaia) that the girl was sleeping during the crime.

According to the region’s Child Services, both children were abused by the accused
women and they were forced to keep sexual relations with one another. They lived in
imprisonment, as now conclude the social workers. The girl thanked for the meals in the
shelter and said she was only eating bread for three days. About a year ago, Rhuan had his
penis cut off by the women. The “procedure” was done at home, and, since them, he didn’t
go to any kind of clinic or hospital. To the policemen, the women told that the boy “wanted to
be a girl” and that was the reason of his mutilation.

Rodrigo Oliveira, father of Kacyla’s daughter, arrived at the International Airport of Brasília
8:30 a.m. (BRT) of yesterday. Following that, he went to the police station, in Samambaia, to
meet the police chief and the representatives of Child Services. A few minutes later, he got
to the shelter where his dauther was, in Taguatinga. Very unsettled, with cracked feet, cuts
in her head and bruises on her neck the small girl finally was reunited with her father. Very
affected, he wasn’t able to talk with Correio’s team. “I managed to find my daughter because
of a tragedy. It isn’t the ideal moment to talk about it”, he lamented.

PREVENTIVE IMPRISONMENT

Rosana and Kacyla went through a custody audience yesterday morning. Both were
preventively imprisoned and were sent to the Specialized Police Department’s jail. “They will
answer for qualified murder, with vile motivation, against a helpless victim, and for being
about someone under 14 years old. [translator’s note: I think she’s talking about the sexual
abuse here, since Brazil’s age of consent is 14] The punishment varies from 12 to 30 years
of imprisonment”, informed the police chief leading the case, Guilherme Sousa Melo.
 He adds that the women will also be investigated for keeping the children in private
imprisonment and for body lesions. The investigator noted that there are suspects that the
children would have been attacked in Goiânia (GO), one of the addresses used by the
women during her flight period. Sousa Melo will travel go to Acre Wednesday. “We’ll make
an external panorama of the authors of the crime and of the victim”.

Investigators of the 26th Police Department will travel to Acre to further investigations
about the case. The women left the state five years ago, taking both children with them.

Kacyla’s daughter will also be monitored during the next days. One of the department’s
agents was assigned to take care of the girl’s case. Also, Child Services guaranteed they will
follow the process, even in another state. The police chief will still talk, again, with the girl’s
father and another of her relatives, on Acre. “Everything’s defined. I will contact all of her
relatives along this week”, he pointed.

and for not having financial conditions of doing the body’s transport. According to Child

about it. It’s still hard to believe”, he said.

Maycon told he had a short relationship with Rosana. “She lived in my parents house
together with Rhuan. I was already separated from her for five years when we decided to
dispute the child’s custody. After that, she disappeared. Everytime we found a clue, we
traveled after my child”, he remembered. According to him, despair took the family when the
boy was kidnapped. “Everyone was very fond [of him], so we never gave up of finding him”.

The man has two other kids, from another marriage. Sustained by his father, he tried to
raise money to pay for the body’s transport fees, before he knew he’d receive help. “I wanted
to take him back to his land, where he was happy and played around. Right now it’s raining
and this only reminds me of him, that loved to play in the rain. Every child does”, said
Maycon, not able to keep his tears.

Child Services informed that Kacyla’s daughter will be kept in the shelter for
undetermined time. For being kept for so long from her father and because of the crime, she
was still very scared during the reunion. The staff of the services will work to soften the
situation, Rodrigo already had the child’s custody, so there are no legal procedures to be
done about it.

BARBARISM

Rosana and Kacyla murdered Rhuan around the end of Friday night. The boy was
sleeping when he was stabbed mutiple times. Afterwards, he had his face disfigured, he was
beheaded and butchered. The women still tried to burn his meat in a barbecue grill so they
could flush it down the toilet. They gave up because of the great amounts of smoke.

They distributed his body parts in one bag and two school backpacks. Rosana threw one
of the items down a manhole in Samambaia, but she was seen by people that were in the
street. Curious people opened the object and found the body. The Civilian Police [editor’s
note: police in Brazil is divided in three branches. The Civilian Police is the non-combative,
regular state-level investigative policeforce] was called and arrested the couple in their
home. The investigators didn’t discard the possibility that the accused would do the same
with Kacyla’s daughter, that was sleeping when the agents arrived.

can be out of prison in only one sixth of their sentence, meaning that they could be out of
prison in so little time as 2 years for such a heinous, horrible crime. Many media outlets have
published this with titles that conceal the nature of this case, such as “Paycuts could be the
reson of Rhuan’s murder”, since one of the reasons they murdered the boy is that they
