Reflection

In this course, I learned my weakness in writing and how to further improve it. In writing

project one, I was struggling with how to format my writing formally since I never be trained in

formal academic writing. In writing project two, I knew that I have to analyze each quote instead

of just put it in my sentences. Moreover, I have to explain the significance of my thesis more. In

order to make my argument more clear and persuasive to readers. Language Power is a good

source for me since I also have a lot of problems about word choice. Language Power can help

me decide whether a word is suitable to use. Furthermore, I also have some problems about lock

up collocations. For example, it is “passion for” instead of “passion to.” By using Language

Power, I can check the collocations I am not sure about. For my further language study, I would

like to keep writing each quarter by enrolling in linguistic and writing courses. Furthermore, I

may also use Language Power to help me with my verb tenses. In Ling 12, I definitely learned a

lot about how to use quote or paraphrase to support my own thesis statement. In the past, I only

explained a little about my citation and then ended a paragraph without discussing more about

the meaning of the quotation. Besides, I also learned that I need to use formal language to write

my academic writings. As a result, Language Power also helps me to choose the most formal

expression of the word.
