DRUGS FROM CRADLE TO CURE

Abstract: This review paper deals with all aspects of the drug for instance drug discovery, it’s
targeting, and strategies involved in successful delivery in the present era. A drug is any
substance that is used to modify the physiological systems for benefit of the recipient. The
development of a drug from initial idea to its entry into a market (after approval by the FDA)
takes around 10-15 years and casts $1.7 billion. The idea for new development came from the
current necessities of the market, new emerging diseases, academic and clinical research etc.
This paper also documents how drug reaches our body and the mechanism of action of drugs.
Targeted drug delivery system is a science of specifying the drug moiety to a specific targeted
area. It includes Polymer-Drug Conjugates, Magnetic Nano-Particles like Liposomes, Quantum
Dots, Dendrimers, Cyt P4O Enzyme, Targeted Aptamer for anticancer and disarming HIV.
When a pharmaceutical agent is encapsulated within or attached to a polymer-drug safety, its
efficacy can be greatly improved. This has provided the impetus for its active study of intelligent
drug delivery systems. For treatment of human diseases nasal, ocular and pulmonary routes of
drug delivery are of increasing importance. New drugs (like cathepsin, nuzyra etc.) robotic
surgeries are an important part of modern medicines with the emergence of new diseases. After
an in-depth analysis of the above information, it is concluded that earlier drugs were just the
herbs. But after different inventions from time to time, drugs demonstrated itself as a lifesaver
for a human being by increasing the life span of human and also tract human disorders in the
present era if used judiciously.

Note: This review paper shall focus on current emerging scenarios of all the aspects of the drug
