positive change while remaining for-profit

campuses, host thought/industry leaders for sensitization and from a career
perspective

companies

Helping in placements?
1. Engage with alums
2. Gain an understanding about what it takes and what kind of work one undertakes
3. CV polishing and interview prep for the specific companies that come on campus
4. Help members approach companies off-campus through the network of alums

Specific companies- 6 to 7 came on campus this year:

1. Dalberg
2. Bridge International – Outreach manager, VP Schools, BDs, Fundraising Managers,
Data Analysis
3. Samagra Advisors
4. Bridgespan (off)
5. FSG (off)
6. Accumen (off)

Do you follow any typical areas- environment, health, education, etc.?

1. Depends on the interest of the class- activities that help the cohort advance in their
careers
2. Education is one of the focus areas every year- events like Udaan and Bandhan
focus primarily on education
Roles offered on campus, and relevance of past experiences?
1. Very few common roles across campus- mostly unique roles every year
2. Work-ex does play a role, but transferable skills can help one make the cut as well

How to get involved?

1. Be a part of the net impact club
2. Be a part of the councils- Hyderabad’s council is slightly larger given the proportions
3. Leading the club as the president – driving the chapter’s vision

What kind of support does the club receive from the international body?
1. Part of the platform, so it’s possible to connect with others – resource sharing, idea
sharing and competitions
2. Fund raising for specific projects if prescribed templates/methods are followed

Is language a barrier for teaching? No, students understand Hindi, English, Telugu, etc

How important is analytics/ data analysis for net impact roles? Not mandatory

Impact investment roles at ISB?

1. A-cyclical pattern of recruitment, given small team sizes
2. Students apply offline anyway

How are council members selected? Standard voting for presidents; council members
elected through interviews with the club presidents

Long term initiatives or clean slate every year?

1. Mohali – No clean slate, piles and piles of data and initiatives to take forward, ex.
New schools to work with for Udaan
2. Hyderabad – Set of mandated events that carry forward, ex. Bandhan and
scholarships, etc.
3. Enough headroom for new initiatives

How does the club engage with other NGOs?

1. No monetary support is handed out (can change though, if the cohort agrees)
2. Volunteer support through pro-bono projects
3. Bandhan & Udaan
4. Collaboration with Goonj, etc. but most collaborations are up to the discretion of the
batch
5. Events in collaboration with ISB, that the Net Impact club gets to lead (not
independently, but as a part of the ISB community)

Collaboration with other Net Impact Chapters in India?

1. Only two exist outside of ISB – IIT KGP and IIM L, but timelines don’t match, creating
a lot of challenges
2. Opportunity open for the incoming cohort anyway- KGP approached ISB last year

How do Pro-bono projects work?

1. NI Club approaches the network and asks them if there is any live challenge
2. Students are mapped with organisations based on challenges – ex. Akshay Patra,
Vision India

Does the club support start-ups in the social space?

1. Mostly taken care of by the T-Hub in the Hyderabad campus
2. NI can voluntarily be a part of it, but that’s up to the cohort
