Analysis of the movie Captain Marvel

Sequence: 0:00:40- 0:05:00

TEHNICLE ASPECT:

 Types of lightning

In this sequence are used all the point lights beginning with the key light (0:01:00) then the
front light (0:01:46) and back light (0:02:31)

The light is not very bright they are using dark lights because the sequence is describing
the action in a closed place somewhere in a galaxy.

 Types of shots
At 0:01:00 is used the extreme close up shot, 0:01:09 is used the medium close-up,
0:01:15 is used the low angle shot, 0:0126 is used a close-up shot, at 0:02:00 is used an
aerial shot, at 0:02:31 is used a long shot mixed with medium shots and in the last minute
is used the medium shot.

 Types of sounds
The diegetic sounds are often heard by the characters and the audience. In this scene
we have the sound of the: powerful hand, rackets and planes, knocking door, fighting
sounds.
At the minute 0:05:00 we have a internal diegetic sound because only one character
can hear it in a dream.
Non-diegetic sound in used in some sequence to increase the fight spirit and the
adrenaline.

 Types of camera movements


At the beginning there is a slow motion and a zoom in movement, 0:02:15 is used
a stationary camera, 0:02:41 there is a mix of mobile camera and pan camera, 0:03:46 is a
zoom in camera movement, 0:04:56 tilt camera movement.

 Types of editing
It is used the Cutting for continuity to keep the flow of the shots as fluid as possible
and to preserve the illusion of continuity. There is no parallel action at this time.

Conclusion: all this aspect lead to mystery. The dark lights mixed with the close-up
shots expressing the character’s emotions and with the sounds that helps us feel exactly
what the director wanted, is making this short sequence transmit intense emotions and
suspense.
