This is a book I own my self and am very fond of,

Animation in its 100 years has become a global success in pop culture. Bringing iconic characters. It is
stylised realism, imitates reality.

1915 New York, Max Fleischer invented the rotoscope to capture lifelike movements, now reality
could merge into animation. However it was not used as animators got better, faster and their
stylized work was more appealing and funnier so therefore it was mre popular.

However Disney in 1930’s wanted the realism AS it would bring the emotion he wanted and
distinguish themselves from other studio cartoons.

Fantasmagorie, Emile Cohl, 1908. It’s so amusing to watch as it seems so primitive.

Disney made cartoons incorporating modernism and minimalism. They were separate but over time
have been fused together, realistic, cartoony, the design based, the abstract, the growing area of
motion graphics.

The digital age was the next take over.
