As Harriet Benjamin P.

Tubman quoted and I quote, “Every great dream begins with a great
dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the courage, and the passion
to reach for the stars to change the world.”

To men and women who embraced with passion one of the greatest gift of all, education. A
remarkable afternoon to everyone!

As we extoll the significance of today’s ceremony, our school’s history is again set for
enrichment as we celebrate the presence of one great woman whose educational and
professional achievements speak volumes. As you are at the peak of your excitement, I am
very delighted to introduce to you our guest speaker for this Second Senior High School
Commencement Exercises with the theme, “Pagkakaisa sa Pagkakaiba-iba: Kalidad na
Edukasyon Para sa Lahat.” “Unity in Diversity: Quality Education for all.” For her presence in
today’s activity will surely mark a milestone in our historical foundation, most especially to
you young graduates. Remember that life will not guarantee you of anything. You are not
entitled to some automatic success. Some of you might make it. Some of you might not.
Some may stumble and get up. Some may stumble and stay on the ground forever. But
please know that it only happens because life doesn’t have any obligation to guarantee
your success. One thing is for sure today is that you will be moved, inspired and motivated by
the life’s story of the proud product of Santa Maria High School because, as prolix as it may
sound, a number of inspirational gems are for sure to occupy in our hearts and minds.

The world exalted with so much joy when this proud couple Mr. Anastacio Marayag
Gazzingan and Mrs. Purisma Bayug Gazzingan from San Rafael East, Santa Maria, Isabela
delivered a child on November 7, 1970. Our guest speaker’s name echoes the essence of
significance and achievements. She productively finished her elementary education at
Santa Maria Central School, with an Honor, school year 1982-1983. She was one of the proud
and successful products of Santa Maria High School batch 1987. Her journey in the quest for
knowledge and skills continued as she enrolled Bachelor of Science in Nutrition-Dietetics at
Saint Paul University Philippines and received the high commendations Academic
Excellence and Department Leadership Award. Her non-compliance to mediocrity made an
indelible mark for she successfully passed her licensure examination and made her a
registered Nutritionist Dietitian.

After passing the licensure exam, her achievements even went well and indeed very
commendable as they mirror her great sense of commitment, dedication and passion. She
was hired at Nestle Philippines Wellness Program as Nutrition Consultant. She served also at
ABBOTT Nutrition as On call Nutritionist-Dietitian. Because of virtues and values that were
developed and nurtured in her, she continued her service at ASTRA ZENECA
PHARMACEUTICALS Philippines Incorporated as On call Nutrition Consultant.

Our guest speaker is a woman of the hour. As a manifestation, she moved from On
Call Nutrition Consultant to Nutritionist Dietitian at Center for Ultimate Rehabilitation of Drug
Dependent Philippine National Police Taguig Chapter for the year 2008 to 2010 and
become an outstanding employee consistent for three straight years.

Bold-spirited, she hurdled countless challenges in her professional career. With her
willingness not to settle for the best, she earned her Master of Management in Public
Administration at Philippine Christian University and Medical Nutrition Therapy at Philippine
Womens University.

Her portfolio of Professional Development and Training is indeed fascinating as each

experiences gives life to her being a woman for others and woman of God. To name a few,
she had a training 18th PENSEA CONGRESS “EXPANDING HORIZONS IN CLINICAL NUTRITION,
WORKSHOP ON FORMULATION OF HIV/AIDS POLICY AND GUIDELINES. She had made herself
available to other fields like culinary arts and personality development, Endocrinology and
Kidney Disease Nutrition Therapy. Her trainings and zeal for continuous professional
development did not confine only at the borders of our country which is the Philippines but
also widen her horizons in Korea and other countries abroad.

Our guest speaker is a precious gem. She has held various positions from being a
specialist, consultant and eventually the Head of clinical and training at East Avenue
Medical Center.

Truly, her professional and educational achievements speak volumes as it reflects in

her deep sense of commitment, hard work, passion and determination coupled with caring
attitude, humility and generosity in her heart as some of the essential elements to be
considered a woman worthy of emulation.

Aside from this worthy noting accomplishments, our guest speaker is also an in-
demand speaker of different trainings and seminars. To name few of her known speaking
whereabouts: Lay Forrum on Stroke, Basic Principle of Diet Therapy and Safety in the Holidays
at East Avenue Medical Center Nuerology and Cardiology Department. Her eagerness and
willingness to apply whatever expertise she had acquired she is now an active member of
DOH League of Nutritionist Dietitian, Nutritionist Dietitian Association of the Philippines,
Philippine Diabetes Educator, DOH HIV/AIDS TEAM, Philippine Support for Parenteral and
Enteral Nutrition and Korean Support for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

Our guest speaker is also a woman of purpose. Being a mother of four is a glory she
always keeps. She has now produced a caliber Marine Engineer, Mr. Marvin Laggui, an
educator ms. Kristal Claire Laggui who took bachelor of Elementary Education and Christian
Paul and Ma. Elizabeth Laggui who will eventually follow her path towards excellence.
Undoubtedly, she is a loving wife and a praise-worthy homemaker.

As a person, I personally admire her because of her wisdom, generous hear, caring
spirit and unconquerable principle.

Indeed, some people succeed because they are destined to, but most people
succeed because they are determined to. And fulfilling maybe her true calling, it is not
therefore surprising on our part that she is presently Nutritionist Dietician III and Head of
clinical and training at East Avenue Medical Center, Manila.

Ladies and gentlemen, the pride is yours as well as mine in welcoming our guest
Speaker, Madam Jocelyn Bayug Laggui.
