Syllabus Scavenger Hunt

Objectives: By the end of this exercise, you will be able to


1. Locate critical information on the syllabus
2. Describe where to find course content on Blackboard
3. Summarize how your grade will be calculated
4. List the components of your research project

Directions: Form a group of 2-3 students nearest you, introduce yourselves and
complete this worksheet together. Make sure that each of you has answered the
questions in YOUR OWN words. You have 10 minutes to complete the assignment.

1. Where and when are Dr. McElligott’s office hours?

2. What are the 5 core concepts of Biological literacy that we will address this
semester?

3. What is the date of the first exam?

4. Go to our Blackboard site, paraphrase 2 course learning goals. Where did


you find this information? Under which folder is the information for the next
class lecture?

5. Using your syllabus, illustrate how your final grade will be calculated.

6. What are the components of your research project? List the weight for each
component.

7. When will you be presenting your posters? How big should they be?

8. Share your email and contact information with the individuals in your group.
Think about a time/day that might work to meet for a 1 hour study session
each week.
