All workmen shall be screened before engaging them on the job. Physical fitness of the person to certain jobs like working at height or other dangerous locations to be ensured before engaging the person on work. The final decision rests with the site management to reject any person on the ground of physical fitness. ‘Smoking is strictly prohibited at workplace. . Sub-contractors shall ensure adequate supervision at workplace. They shall ensure that all persons working under them shall not create any hazard to self or to co-workers. .. No body is allowed to work without wearing safety helmet. Chinstrap of safety helmet shall be always on. No one is allowed to work at or more than 2m height without wearing safety harness and lanyard of harness shall be anchored to firm support preferably at shoulder level. . No one is allowed to enter into workplace and work at site without adequate foot protection. . Usage of eye protection shall be ensured when workmen are engaged for grinding, chipping, welding and gas-cutting. For other jobs, as when CAPO/SAPO Insists eye protection shall be used. All PPE like shoes, helmet, safety harness etc. shall be arranged before starting the job as per recommendation of CAPO/SAPO. PPE non-compliance may attract penalty. . All excavated pits shall be barricaded and barricade to be maintained till the backfilling is done. Safe approach shall be ensured into every excavation. . Adequate illumination at workplace shall be ensured before starting the job at night. All the dangerous moving parts of the portable / fixed machinery being used shall be adequately guarded. . Ladders being used at site shall be adequately secured at bottom and top. Ladders shall not be used as work platforms. . Erection zones and dismantling zones shall be barricaded and a signalman to be posted to ensure that nobody stands under suspended load. Horseplay is completely prohibited at workplace. Running at site is completely prohibited, except in case of emergency. Materials shall not be thrown from heights in any case. Other than the electricians with red helmet no one is allowed to carry out electrical connections, repairs on electrical equipment or other jobs related thereto. Power supply shall be taken through RCCB of 30 mA sensitivity Insertion of bare wires for tapping power from electrical sockets is prohibited. Sub-contractors shall ensure all the rollers under their control are fixed with delay start 32. 33. 34, 35. Good housekeeping to be maintained. Passages shall not be blocked with materials. Materials like bricks shall not be stacked more than 1.5m height. Debris, scrap and other materials shall be cleared from the workplace time to time and at the time of closing of work everyday. Scrap bins provided at site shall be used. Sub-contractors shall ensure that all their workmen are following safety practices while traveling in the company's transport and staying at company's accommodations. Adequate fire fighting equipment shall be made available at workplace and persons are to be trained in fire fighting techniques with the co-ordination of CAPO/SAPO. All unsafe conditions, unsafe acts reported by site Supervisors and SHE personnel shall be corrected on priority basis. No children shall be allowed to enter the workplace. Female workers are not allowed to work at height and other high-risk areas Hydra cranes shall not be engaged for construction activities. Safety Requirements for Working near Running Tracks of Indian Railways Whenever work is to be executed in close proximity to Indian Railway track then following safety measures shall be adopted:- Provision of IRPWM related to block protection, safety precaution for protection of track shall be followed. Works which is executed within 3.5m from center line of existing Indian Railway track shall be executed under block protection and with permit to work from concerned railway. 1 2 Page 2 of 4 a © @ Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (Phase-l) Civil, Building and Track Work Package (CTP-3R) For works to be executed between 3.5 m to 6 m from center line of existing Indian Railway track work to be executed after erection of fencing as per approved plan. For works to be executed beyond 6 m from center line of existing Indian Railway track, it shall be ensured that no vehicle / construction equipment infringes demarcation line marked at 6 m from center of existing railway track. All utilities, signaling cables, signaling equipment, pipelines, gate lodges, staff quarters etc., coming in the alignment shall be shifted / relocated as per approved plan before undertaking earth-work programmed. During earth-work if any signaling cable not identified earlier got damaged it should be immediately reported to Indian Railway concern department and immediate action shall be taken for repair of the same to avoid interruption to traffic. Any material unloaded along the track shall be kept clear of moving dimensions and stacked at minimum 3.5 m from track center of running track. Movernent of vehicle / working of machineries shall not be permitted during night. In case night working is to be adopted proper fencing at 3.5 m from track center of running track shall be erected to ensure that no infringement of moving dimension takes place. Suitable lighting arrangements shall also be done. Working in existing railway station area for modification of existing siding / line shall be done after approval of plan and with permit to work from Railway. 10. Modification to road surface at existing level crossings which may cause interruption to road traffic shall be executed as per approved plan with the approval of concerned local authorities. 11, Flag man / traffic marshal to alert for safe movement of the vehicle and the people working near IR lines shall be deputed. 12.
