There is a family of gnomes that lives in the woods. The father gnome is a toy maker.

They are
very poor, and they are always short of food. One day they decide to move into town so that
selling the toys is easier for them.

The family akes up early one morning and catches the train to the city. Their bags are full with
clothes, toys and books. They arrive at the train station at half past eight at night.

´Where shall we go?´, Mother gnome asks.

´We will find a place.´, Father gnome answers.

They walk around the city but there isn´t a hotel. They go to a restaurant to ask for food but it is
closed already, opposite the restaurant there is a huge library and father thinks they can sleep
there, but the door is closed too. They go on walking, to the place where bread is sold they come,
no luck, it is also closed. It is next to the shopping centre. And between the shopping centre and
the super market the church is placed. As you may know churches are supposed to be open, but it
is closed. The family doesn´t know where to spend the night.

Finally they sleep in the main square. As they have no food to eat, they are very hungry. Father
gnome wakes up in the middle of the night and asks the stars to feed his family since they are so
poor, while he asks for food a shadow comes to him, a deep voice tells him to be quiet and relax,
his problems will be solved by the following morning. He goes to sleep again.

At half past seven the following morning, the family wakes up, they are not in the square any
more, they are in the woods again, but they are not poor anymore and their dishes are full of food.
Apples and bananas, meat and bread, coffee and tea, cake and sweets, any food you can think of is
there all for them. They eat as much as they can and as they are happy, the children go out to play.
Father tells mother what happened the night before. At night, they have dinner and they go to
sleep. The following morning empty are the woods and empty is the city´s main square. Of the
gnomes family nobody knows again. Just a picture of the family at the table eating vegetables, and
meat and ice cream is found in the main square where they slept that night.
