Essential Question: What are the diferent practices for becoming time efficient in AutoCAD, this may include keyboard shortcuts as well as mouse ‘horicuts? How can the user modily their screen in AutoCAD to personalize their experience inthe software, ultimately becoming @ More eficient drafter? Measurable Daily Objective: During the lesson, students will utlize more advanced tools in CAD to complete a second set of tutorial drawings with 80% accuracy, How? Warm-up: Students complete their daily warm up on google classroom. Problem & Solution on AutoCAD. Instructional Method: Independent work, Demonstration Lesson Description: ‘Students continue building baisc tool skills in AutoCAD while completeing the second set of tutorial drawings aimed to practice the following AutoCAD tools: Copy, Dimension, Mirror, Offset, Divide, Array, OSNAP, Trim, Polygon, 2D PLINE, Ellipse, Arc, Fillet, and MText. Once completed, students are to create an optical illusion, of their own design, on AutoCAD for later submission. Modifications: ‘Students who need a print out of the AutoCAD screen with labeled tools will receive it. Accommodation: ‘One-on one help as needed. Why? Real-Life Application: ‘AutoCAD is the premise of this course and is very important in the drafting and graphic communication industry. Understanding as well as practicing the basics of the software is vital in becoming an efficient and accurate drafter. Calculating Rocket Altitude What? Essential Questions: hat formula do we use to calculate the altitude of our rockets? Measurable Daily Objective: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to calculate and hypothesize the altitude their rocket will reach on launch day within a range of 10 feet. How? Warm-up: Rocket forces warm up on Google classroom. Instructional Methods: Lecture, research and analysis. Lesson Description: ‘Students will learn how to calculate altitude of their rocket with a teacher demonstration on the board. They will finish up the construction of their rocket and analyze its features. They will then give a projected altitude their rocket will reach on launch day. Towards the end of the period, each pair will present their rocket to the class and will touch on pre-set topics about their rocket. Modifications: Give students example altitude problems and provide a scripted presentation worksheet. Accommodations: Check for understanding with one on one interaction. Why? Real-Life Application: Rockets are real life examples of science, math, engineering, and technology. They hold a rich history of Newton's Laws of Motion and modern day rocketry advances. Boat Hull Design What? Measurable Daily Objective: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to technically draft a 3-view drawing of their boat hull design, following all drafting guidelines, with 100% accuracy. How? Warm-up: Visualize your boat design and examine previously designed projects Hold a discussion of the pros and cons of each fesign. Instructional Methods: Lecture, Cooperative learning, Demonstration. Lesson Deser The students will follow along with a presentation that outlines the criteria for the boat hull 3-view drawing. The students will then work cooperatively with their partner to creale an accurate mechanical drawing that replicates their chosen boat design. Throughout the period, groups of students will be given a group demo on the bandsaw in preparation for building in the coming classes. Modifications: Giving the student an outline of the boat hull sketch or an already created grid for their drawing that identifies the placement and scaling of views. Accommodations: Check for understanding with one on one interaction. Offer time after school for further assistance. Why? Real-Life Application: Mechanical drawings are necessary for any project or idea that needs to be communicated. ‘Also, itis essential to understand how and why people design products the way that they do. Boat Hull design is a perfect example of why engineering and planning is so important before something is built.
