Lookism

The movie ‘Wonder' shows different themes such as friendship, family,

lookism, etc. Among those, lookism has got my interest the most. Throughout the

movie, we can see lots of scenes that show how lookism works and influences

people. Obviously, Auggie is one of the victims of lookism. Julian and his friends

make fun of Auggie and everywhere he goes he gets the attention that he doesn't

want because of his look. These days, the effect lookism put into our lives is

enormous. People judge and treat each other according to imaginary images they

made by their look. It is true that people’s look is the only clue we can get from

someone at first meet. But there’s still a chance that this clue might be wrong. We

thought Miranda is a mean girl from watching her behavior, suddenly ignoring her

best friend, at her first appearance. However, it turns out she has a reasonable

excuse which is related to her family matter. We all can be Miranda anytime. People

are the complicated creature who can’t be described in a certain frame. Why don't

you start to look at various aspects of people as well as their look when you see

people?
