He was assassinated in 1968. 2) Martin Luther King, became the leader in the Civil Rights Movement to end racial segregation and discrimination in America during the 1950s and 1960s. 3) Martin Luther King became involved in his first major civil rights campaign in Montgomery, Alabama, where buses were racially segregated. 4) He was successful because of all of the people involved. For example Rosa Parks and the bus users/citizens of Montgomery, Alabama. 5) He was active from December 1955 until April 4th,1968 6) He campaigned by peacefully protesting in the town Montgomery, Alabama with a ,lot of supporters including some white men and women.
