CHART DESCRIPTION:

● 11 hair samples collected

○ 9- patients with alopecia
○ 2- patients with breakage
● Hair types 5,6, and 7 were found(images on back)
● Each section on chart represents each hair
sample- this includes hair type number and type
of alopecia
RESULTS:
● Traction Alopecia and Trichorrhexis Nodosa are
hair conditions that are both caused by the
breaking of hair. Each of these conditions show
data of the hair type 7 which is very kinky and
curly. Because they have a common cause and
curl pattern, it could be possible they are
related.
● The sample size not big enough to make an
FPHL accurate conclusion for the rest of alopecias,
CCCA but seeing the variation within CCA and
TRACTION ALOPECIA Trichorrhexis Nodosa shows there is most likely
TRICHORRHEXIS not a relationship between curl pattern and
NODOSA alopecia/breakage.
● Research has been found that connects CCCA
to a gene which disproves the theory of curl
patterns connection to many types of alopecias.
