Is Shakespeare still relevant and it should be taught in schools

today?

A lot of people are considering about Shakespeare works in these days. Is he still on the topic
and should discussed in schools? William works are huge part of the culture. Shakespeare is
still relevant and it should be taught in schools today. Shakespeare’s stories are connected to
today’s world and we still can learn from them.

“Shakespeare uses timeless themes and emotions in his stories that are still relevant today”.
According to the article from Debate.org, it is saying that feelings shown in Shakespeare,
especially like in Othello are still the same as today. Over four hundred years after William’s
death people can still find the same feeling in his books today. The most basic of human
emotions of love, jealousy, hatred are presented in Shakespeare’s Othello. We experiencing
these emotions in the same way as main character, Othello. He loved and was jealous of his
wife, Desdemona as we of the person that is important to us.

“Shakespeare had actually created much of the English language.” Even if people are reading
his stories and think it does not make sense, it actually is. Because of the way that are we
speaking today. We have such a different way to talk to our friends or just people. Back then it
was more official and “complicated”. That is why reading the book, sometimes we can not
understand what he actually is talking about. But if we translate it, everything is clear. According
to the Debate.org his words inside his books are clever and people using them today. Humans
quoting Shakespeare without even knowing and noticing this.

His plays portray familiar people in situations that all of us experienced at on time or another in
our lives. Shakespeare shown things that we are still struggling with. Like marriage, death or
violence. Teaching how to make a difficult choices and that people are actually need to do the
same today. In “Othello”, one of Shakespeare’s books, the main character Othello and
Desdemona marry and they trying to build the life together. The difference of age, race or status
are significant. Their marriage is devastated by the other character, Iago. Love between Othello
and Desdemona is challenged by all the people around them. Othello experienced a death of
his wife. He killed her because he thought that she is unloyal to him. A quote from the book from
page 259 ACT 5 SCENE 2 line 332 “O Desdemon! Dead, Desdemon! Dead! O, O!” showed that
Othello cried because he still had feelings to her. The violence against his wife was shown
when he killed her but inside he still loved her. Brutality in “Othello” that is still present in our life.

Shakespeare is still applicable in these days. In other hand his stories can be boring and hard to
understand what is actually going on. But I believe it is important to know William Shakespeare
and the books that he made. I think that teachers still should learn kids about Shakespeare and
his works. William use lasting themes, created a lot of English language and showed problems
that people have today.
