Takas sa Talisay was a turning point in the battle to liberate Cebu from the clutches of the Japanese
during World War II. However, the vital role that the Talisaynons played in the fight against the
Japanese has largely been forgotten, untold and unrecognized by most.
The guerillas who have answered the Philippines’ call to arms without hesitation, whose significant
contributions and sacrifice exemplified the hallowed traditions of service to nation and duty to
country.
Let us not forget the unrelenting courage of these people who have sacrificed their lives for the
liberation of the Filipino people.

BEGINNING
Narration
Takas sa Talisay is an annual commemoration of the landing of the American forces on the beach of
Talisay City every March 26.
This year, the city government of Talisay, in coordination with Talisay City College , through the help
of Philippine navy and the Army forces of the Philippines, will
once again reenact the events that showed the unrelenting courage of Cebuanos against the
oppressive might of the Japanese forces.
A nation should never forget its past. Countless and nameless people have died for us to live the
comfortable life and freedom we now enjoy.
