A-band: where myosin & actin filaments overlap

H-zone: in the center of the sarcomere/A-band where only myosin filaments are
I-band: areas in 2 adjacent sarcomeres that only contain actin filaments
Z-line: thin, dark line in the middle of the I-band; separates sarcomeres
sarcoplasmic reticulum: an intricate system of tubules parallel to & surrounding ea myofibril; terminates
as vesicles in the vicinity of the Z-lines; Ca ions are stored in the vesicles
