“MY LITTLE ONE”

BY:

MARY ROSE CORTES

What a miracle letting you grow inside me,

Every day, I can feel you roll, kick and hiccup,

Every day, we wonder what you would look like,

Would you be like Mommy or Daddy?

Whoever it will be, it will be fine,

Because you are mine.

The day I gave birth to you,

I can’t hardly move, nor open my eyes,

I was dying.

But when I heard your cry,

You gave me strength to carry on,

You put a smile in my face in the middle of pain.

I smile because I got you my little one,

It was our first kiss our first touch,

Our first sleep side by side,

Your fragile body I carried gently,

Your tiny limbs I held softly,

Your hungry cries made me loved you a little more.

Every time you cry,

I gave you a lullaby,

And you gave me that smile,

Oh how sweet you are to me,

My child, my strength,

My joy.
