You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al
que pertenece y el lugar mostrado. Use el vocabulario dentro del recuadro para

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is
New York (USA) – The Statue of Liberty
located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera
House
Rome is an Italian city of
2’877.215 inhabitants, capital of
the Lazio region and Italy. It is
the most populated municipality
in Italy and the fourth most
populous city in the European
Union.
You can visit the squares, the
fountains, the monuments and
the most important attractions to
see in Rome. The whole city of
Rome is an open-air museum.
in the image we can see Saint
Peter’s Square is an open
urban space that is located in
the Vatican City, within the city of
Rome. It was entirely projected
by Gian Lorenzo Bernini
between 1656 and 1667.
Sydney is the largest city and
Australia, with a population in its
metropolitan area close to
the 4’840.600 inhabitants.
In the city highlights the Sydney
Opera House, the bridge of the
Sydney Harbor and its beaches.
Sydney is one of the most
multicultural of the world.
In the image we can see the
Sydney Opera House, it is
without a doubt the symbol par
excellence of Australia. The
Sydney Opera House is also one
of the most famous buildings of
the 20th century. It was designed
by the Danish architect Jørn
Utzon in 1957 and inaugurated
in 1973.

Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh, besides being the
capital of Scotland since 1437, is
one of the most visited cities in
the United Kingdom and also
has the title to the second
largest city in Scotland, it has
477,660 inhabitants, but its
beauty and its historical legacy
make it a more than
recommended place for lovers of
tourism and travel.
Located on the east coast of
Scotland, the city of Edinburgh is
a beautiful destination to go to
enjoy a beautiful vacation. It is
situated on top of the Firth of the
Forth River, which gives it much
of the charm it enjoys. Being
next to the sea, it has a large
harbor. There is also an
extensive territory of fertile land
that gives grace to the
environment of the Scottish
capital.
Edinburgh Castle, stronghold
that was once the residence of
Scottish monarchs and now
serves mostly as a museum. It
stands 443 feet (135 metres)
above sea level and overlooks
the city of Edinburgh from a
volcanic crag called Castle
Rock. Castle Rock has been the
site of human activity for at least
3,000 years.
 It is one of the seven emirates
that make up the United Arab
Emirates. It is located on the
coast of the Persian Gulf, in the
Arabian desert.
One of the main tourist activities
in Dubai is commerce, which is
why it is considered as the
shopping capital of the Middle
East
Some of the main tourist
destinations in Dubai include the
Burj Khalifa, which has an
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj observation platform where you
Khalifa can see the urban landscape of
the capital; the Dubai Museum,
which houses a collection of
maps, objects and historical
documents that show the
evolution of the area over time;
The Dubai Aquarium that
contains more than one hundred
species of marine creatures and
the beach of Jumeirah, which
includes a complex of hotels and
restaurants. We also have
several theme and amusement
parks, such as Creekside Park,
Zabeel Park, Safa Park, Wild
Wadi and Dubai Miracle Garden.
In the image we see The Burj
Khalifa is the tallest building in
the world with a height of 828
meters. More than 12,000
people from 30 countries
participated in the construction
of the building. It was previously
known as Burj Dubai
