On September 23rd, 2018, I went to the James Clark Jr. Library at Howard Community

College with my friend, Swetha Sethuraj. Although the library at HCC is quite small, it’s the

closest college database from my house. When I first entered the library, there were only two

people in the room and both worked to check out books. I approached Vera who worked at the

front desk, telling her that I’m a high school student in River Hill, enrolled in the Independent

Research class. Since she wasn’t as familiar with the library as her colleague is, she directed me

to a librarian named Amy. I told Amy about my research topic, How Globalization Affects

Businesses and World Economies, and she helped me access a computer, searching up keywords

to find a book relating to the topic. When we found the section of books that related to my topic,

I was shocked as to how many selections there were. Since I was running on time, I wrote down

the few books that interested me and searched them up later, luckily I found them online.

Among the variety of books that interested me, I was particularly interested in

“GLOBALITY, Competing with Everyone from Everywhere for Everything.” This book is

about how countries are dependent among each other for product development, and the rapidly

growing economies that compete against each other. Using this book, the author claims that the

economic climate we live under today is going to change in a revolutionary manner.
