could present their presentations/projects through a variety of
media of their choice (Prezi slideshow, powerpoint slideshow,
video compilation, “how to” youtube tutorials, acting, dialogue,
poem, story, etc..). Having this flexibility allows students to

solving authentic problems using digital tools and the beginning of each history class, the students all watch CNN
resources Student News off the smart board. They learn about current
national and international news. We have a brief discussion about
the events in class. As part of their warm up they have the option

come up and choose a category, etc.. We also utilized games
online such as, ““Charle’s Darwin Game of Survival” via
ScienceChannel.com, when teaching difficult concepts in science.

Students have opportunities to work on assignments in class with
the laptops that the school site provides. Teachers give students

b. Develop technology-enriched learning In physical education class we had the students submit their health &
environments that enable all students to pursue wellness short-term goals (2 week span) and long-term goals (2 months)
their individual curiosities and become active – as part of their Final. We let them borrow polar smart watches to track
participants in setting their own educational goals, their progress. The polar watch kept track of their daily heart rate,
managing their own learning, and assessing their calories burned, exercise duration, and steps. They also kept track of
own progress their progress in their diary that included their exercise duration, type,
and frequency along with a daily food diary (they had to refer back to
their polar smart watch to note how much calories they burned for the
day).

responsible social interactions related to the use appropriately and accordingly. The students know the school policy on
of technology and information cell phone/electronic usage. Students are aware of the consequences as
a result of using social media or cyber bullying in classroom chats. It is
not an issue I have come across because I stay engaged by walking
around the classroom monitoring their progress and by modeling this
myself in the classroom (I never have my phone out in class).

communities to explore creative applications of middle school and the UCR extension office of nutrition and health
technology to improve student learning education these last few years has made an impact in educating students
about their health and wellness, let alone physical exercise. The
partnership with UCR gave us access to resources such as nutrition

I will continue to stay up to date with the latest software, applications, and programs technology has to offer. I plan to attend seminars and workshops
to receive the proper training. I plan to apply and transfer what I learn in these workshops/seminars into the classroom and teach students how to
utilize these tools necessary for success in both the classroom and in their future. Also, I would like to keep parents and community members
involved. The more parents get involved, the higher the likelihood that their child will succeed in the classroom. A suggestion I have in accomplishing
parent involvement is by hosting at least one informational meeting a month or so to inform and train parents on how to use the online programs and
resources that are available from home. Furthermore, it would be ideal to collaborate with staff members and include hands-on working stations in
which parents can attempt to access the programs themselves (under staff guidance). Last but not least, I would also like to get involved in the
community and partner up and collaborate with local businesses and universities such as UCR who offer resources that are readily available for
student teaching, learning, and success.
