Task 2

Introduction

Data processing is simply the conversion of raw data to meaningful information

through a process. it follows a cycle where inputs raw data are fed to a process
computer systems, software, etc. to produce output information and insights data can be
processed manually, mechanically and electronically.Electronic data processing or is
the modern technique to process data. The data is processed through a computer; Data
and set of instructions are given to the computer as input, and the computer
automatically processes the data according to the given set of instructions. The
computer is also known as electronic data processing machine.Data storage uses
different technologies. Flash memory uses transistors to store a tiny electrical charge to
represent like, Hard disk drives use magnetic storage platters. Optical drives like
CD/DVD/M-disc use. Also have cheap bulk storage of very large storage capacities of
GB or TB larger.

Customer relationship management

Customer relationship management (CRM) is important in running a successful

business. The better the relationship, the easier it is to conduct business and generate
revenue. Therefore using technology to improve CRM makes good business
sense. The most effective way to store and manage customer information is in a
relational database a centralised customer database that will allow to run all systems
from the same source, ensuring that everyone uses up-to-date information.Using data
mining tools in spreadsheet programs, which analyse data to identify patterns or
relationships,it can begin to profile customers and develop sales strategies.

knowledge management

A knowledge management system can be referred to as a tool, designed to capture,

collaborate, and manage knowledge so that it can be made easily available to the users
employees and staff in most cases. A knowledge management system is of two kinds
open source Inmagic Presto,Confluence and cloud based. If decide to use a

5
cloud-based knowledge base, do not need to manage systems for each individual data
center. Simply put, regardless of any location, can access a cloud-based knowledge
repository, and have direct access to that information.Cloud-based knowledge
management tool allows quick and easy upgrades. The data stored on a cloud server is
maintained and controlled by a cloud computing provider, such as AWS, Microsoft
azure, Google cloud etc.

Data management

Data management is the administrative process that refers to the management of an

organization's information and it is essential to use some specific software
like Hadoop, Cloudera, Mongo DB etc.A common approach to data management is
that many companies hiring an outsourcing company to convert raw data into useful
information which can be further utilized to take informed business decisions and to
gain insights into customer behaviour, trends, and opportunities for creating
experiences, an extraordinary customer service.

Communication management

Communications management is the systematic planning, implementing, monitoring,

and revision of all the channels of communication within an organization and between
organizations. It also includes the organization and dissemination of new
communication directives connected with an organization, network, or
communications technology. Aspects of communications management include
developing corporate communication strategies, designing internal and external
communications directives, and managing the flow of information, including online
communication. New technology forces constant innovation on the part of
communications managers.

Database management system

A database management system (DBMS) is a collection of programs that enables

to store, modify, and extract information from a database. There are many different
types of database management systems, ranging from small systems that run on

6
personal computers to huge systems that run on mainframes.Organizations use large
amounts of data. A database management system (DBMS) is a software tool that
makes it possible to organize data in a database. The ultimate purpose of a database
management system is to store and transform data into information to support making
decisions.A database management system should be able to store any kind of data. It
should not be restricted to the employee name, salary and address. Any kind of data
that exists in the real world can be stored in DBMS because we need to work with all
kinds of data that is present around us.Data stored in a database is connected with
each other and a relationship is made in between data. DBMS should be able to
represent the complex relationship between data to make the efficient and accurate
use of data.

Importance of collecting data

Data is simply another word for information. But in computing and business data
refers to information that is machine readable as against to human readable .A
program is a set of instructions for manipulating data. And when take data and apply a
set of programs, it get software. In order for a program to perform instructions on data,
that data must have some kind of uniform structure.Technically all of the types of data
above contribute to Big Data. There’s no official size that makes data big. The term
simply represents the increasing amount and the varied types of data that is now
being gathered as part of data collection. Anyone can collect data by observation,
surveying, or experimentation.Observation entails going out and watching for
example, how many cars go through a red light in a certain period of time then record
that data.Surveying refers doing a survey of some type, from going door-to-door to
using media such as mail and the internet. This method can be biased because people
can lie on forms, however it is still widely implemented as probably have taken a
survey before and data collection is usually done with software and manually , and
there are many different data collection procedures, strategies, and techniques. So
why is data collection important? It is through data collection that a business or
management has the quality information they need to make informed decisions from
further analysis, study, and research.

7
Conclusion

Data collection has several methods and techniques. Collecting data can be for
various purposes. The collection of data refers to a plan for gathering data, information
from field situations. A set of procedure is followed to get the desired data,
information from the field work in geography, to process and analyse the facts in a
logical and scientific manner.
