PAGE 01: INSIDE A DREAM - FOREST - LAKE - AFTERNOON.!
!
From the bottom of a darkly cold deep sea, a tiny little
dot comes from below, expanding right in front of us,
showing that it is not a dot but is actually a man,
Orpheus, of 28 years of age, who is not drowned but clearly
sleeping, bubbles coming from his breathing, dreaming,
wearing a white cloth reminiscent of Ancient Greece
fashion, floating up to an unseen surface where the light,
covering his whole being, makes him glow turning him like
the sight of a sleeping angel, a human firefly. From above
there is a bright yellow-orange light, tender and warm
contrasting the coldness of the sea.!
!
Navigating below Orpheus’s unmoved body, briefly appears
the mythical creature Leviathan, only gazing at Orpheus
before disappearing within the darkness of the ocean. It’s
sudden appearance implies fear and pain that manifest in
the sleepy Orpheus, the beast calmly swims away embracing
darkness. !
!
The environment is a manifestation of what Orpheus feels,
we are accompanying him, we are inside his dream, and once
he opens his eyes, still in this dream, at first he glares
unaware, discovering something, yet unseen to us, realizing
he knows what he is looking at, smiling comfortably and
obsessively but not for long as soon as a sense of
uneasiness stumbles upon his fixated existence.!

There is Alma and herself next to her, her twin, her

double, the real Alma wears a long red dress while her
double wears the same kind of wardrobe but blue.!
!
She tenderly waits for Orpheus to come up, both of them
extend their arms in his direction. Behind them is a green
and brown forest, with thousands of leaves flying and
falling, like a windy day in autumn ready for winter. There
might be a couple of birds flying around, or maybe even
only one. !
!
The women sit on the shore of a sky blue lake full of
lotuses around its surface, the ruins of an old gothic
church are to the left of the women about 20 meters away.!
!
The light of the sun still strongly “touches” their faces
and bodies directly in front of them from far above,
Orpheus raises his head to the top of the lake, looking
amazed, he can’t believe seen two of the same woman yet he
nervously smiles at them, he is not sure to whom of them to
look at, he feels doubt.!
!
ORPHEUS: !
ALMA, ¿WHICH ONE OF YOU IS REAL?!
!
Both women smile at him without muttering a single word
then they look at each other tenderly kissing in the mouth,
only a single kiss.!

After the kiss, both women look back at him, holding,

hugging each other, and to Orpheus’s surprise and
subsequent horror, they are melting like oil painting,
combining each other and with the surroundings.!
!
Orpheus tries to swim out the lake but he is melting too,
he hasn’t realise about this while moving back and forth
his arms remaining unmoved in the same place. !
!
Every movement he does his hands are melting, when he
finally sees his arms are gone and what is happening to him
his face begins to melt down.!
!
His jaw melts. Before losing his sight while his eyes melt,
in pain, he can see all around him losing its shape,
combining into a big shapeless mass of colours until
turning into a dark and suffocating grey that absorbs
everything.!
!
Soon, Orpheus is absorbed combining with the rest of the
meltdown, nothing but blackness remains.!

In a night where only the cold and pale moonlight enters

from the window, Orpheus wakes up silently but nervously,
moving around the bed, trying to go back to sleep again,
but he knows he can’t. !
!
Thoughtful about his dream, removing the blanket that
covers him, Orpheus sits on the bed, watches down his feet
being illuminated by the moon.!
!
Closing his eyes trembles feeling cold. Raises his head and
sees an easel through the opened door of the room, far from
him, in the living room where the lights are on, not in
detail, yet still visible from his view point.!
!
Although we are unaware of what is the content of the
painting, we can clearly see how disgusted and frustrated
Orpheus looks and feels as he sees the unknown painting.!
!
Next to his bed over the bureau there is a glass of water,
he extends his left arm to take it but foolishly drops the
glass that collapses on the ground.!
!
This action pisses him off, makes him mad and his
frustration grows even more, he gives a furious glance at
the painting, nonetheless sadness invades him.!
!
His apartment is part of a building of maybe 3 to 6 floors,
he lives in the middle, from his window there is a fine
view of the streets outside, he lives in a very lively part
of the city which is surrounded by many local small to
middle businesses.!

PAGE 05: INT. ORPHEUS’S ROOM - NIGHT. / INT. LIVING ROOM.!
!
Taking a deep breath he looks in the direction of the
living room again, walking across the room to turn the
lights off not before looking with a terrible impotence at
the mysterious painting, all the materials an artist use
are gathered well-accommodated around the painting. !
!
The lights go off.!
!
Back in his room after closing the door, he walks to his
bed unconsciously stepping over the broken glass on the
floor where his sadness becomes anger and frustration.!
!
ORPHEUS: !
FUCK! SHIT! GODDAMN IT! !
!
Sit on the bed, an irritated Orpheus holds his right foot
over his left knee, slowly taking out the broken glass, the
blood comes out like the melted painting of his dream, this
makes him tremble, his eyes grow, instead of curing the
wound he squeezes it around with his fingers, watching the
blood pouring out his sole.!
!
Every drop of blood splash over the floor.!

PAGE 06: INT. CHURCH - MIDDAY.!
!
Because of the celebration of The Day of the Dead, there is
a big congregation of people bringing food and gifts for
their deceased, it’s happening around and inside a
yellowish and brown coloured Romanic Church during the
midday.!
!
Is very clear that many people are silently praying,
although there are several who are crying, some even are
demanding the return of the gone loved ones. !
!
The altar is full of food, lit candles, photographs and
drinks, people walk in line, there is order regardless of
the crowded and dramatic feeling of the many of the sad
faces inside the church.!
!
In the very last bench of the left, in the right corner,
among them, next to a pregnant woman and her old mother
praying for both their husbands, who are dead, carrying
photos of both men, is an astonished Orpheus, who prudently
watches them.!
!
A tiny picture that has the drawing of a married couple of
skeletons falls over Orpheus’s knees, distracting him,
filled with curiosity he takes it, a shadow covers the
drawing and his hands holding the drawing.!

PAGE 07: INT. CHURCH - MIDDAY.!
!
He looks up realizing in dreadful amazement that he cannot
believe what he is seeing, worst of all at whom, with his
skin getting paler, he begins to sweat, the picture falls
from his hands carried away by the wind that enters from
the huge wooden doors behind everyone inside.!
!
What Orpheus sees is a very young and extremely brown
skinned, curly grey hair and bright green eyes, 16 years
old human being, that is human being because is neither a
man or a woman, has both male and female characteristics,
the best of both parts, an angelical hermaphrodite.!
!
There is nothing that Orpheus says, he remains static, his
wet face almost as pale as that of a skull. The
hermaphrodite doesn’t sit, just stays next to Orpheus and
gives him a tender and worried smile, this scares Orpheus
way more, even if he finds a certain curiosity.!
!
HERMAPHRODITE: !
THE PAIN OF NOTHINGNESS CONSUMES YOU, YET YOU
HAVEN’T LOST ANYTHING, YET YOU ARE HERE.!

PAGE 08 / PAGE 09: INT. CHURCH - MIDDAY.!
!
People walk through the Hermaphrodite as if he/she is a
hologram that no one except Orpheus can see.!
!
A pain on his chest, watching at all sides of the church,
nobody is looking at him, nobody notices what is going on,
nobody sees the presence of the person near him, like a
ghost that remains there as a wax sculpture.!
!
Without any more doubts Orpheus tries to go through the
hermaphrodite but to his surprise his body collides with
his/hers, he falls back in fear accidentally punching with
his right arm the pregnant woman, Orpheus does not notices
this, he is so much more concentrated on the presence of
the hermaphrodite that, sadly, he doesn’t care about
anything else.!
!
He hits her on the upper part of her right side of the
head, she reacts to the pain and her mother seeing this and
watching a careless Orpheus not giving a damn, she looks at
where he is looking, sees nothing, sees him in fear and
before she could say a thing, Orpheus runs away from there.!
!
The old woman holds around her daughter, sobbing her head,
upset watching Orpheus desperately going out of the church.!
!
OLD WOMAN:!
FUCKING IDIOT.!
!
Her daughter still with pain looks at her impress by her
mother’s reaction.!
!
PREGNANT WOMAN:!
BE RESPECTFUL, MOTHER.!
!
The woman looks back at her daughter feeling ashamed!

PAGE 10 / PAGE 11: EXT. CHURCH - MIDDAY.!
!
Recently getting out, several meters away from the church,
Orpheus finally looks back and nothing follows him, yes,
the celebration is evident outside too, there are those
that mourn their dead and others celebrating as if they
came back to life to have a good time with them.!
!
Paranoia is inside of Orpheus, he is worried about
something he can’t even be able to speak about, he walks
and walks around, trying to find the hermaphrodite but is
nowhere to be found.!
!
Orpheus stops looking down his feet as he sees his own
reflection inside a little puddle below him. In the puddle
his reflection laugh and gets angry at himself then ends up
worried and scared at the end. He spits over the puddle and
raising his face he seems to be wanting to blame someone
else. He certainly feels guilty about something, something
he doesn’t want to deal with.!
!
He can’t run away faster, he has assume that although his
desperation is quite clear yet he maintains his posture and
walks as fast as possible to get away from there.!
!
Without noticing it, way behind Orpheus, there is a person
standing over one of the pillars of the church almost like
a gargoyle or the statue of a beautiful angel, it’s the
Hermaphrodite, then we get to see a close up of him/her’s
face denoting a certain willingness of provocation, is
difficult to explain, is not malign but not good either, is
as if his/her face is about to make a bet, to pull the
strings and see what happens.!
!
A feeling of being watched makes Orpheus stops, he looks
back again at the church, but the Hermaphrodite is no
longer up there. He restarts his walk.!

!
I should mention that these two pages shows how lonely
Orpheus feels, how much hopelessness and fear paralyses
him, the idea behind choosing to express this moment in two
pages is essentially to represent his state of mind and
emotions, the internal geography and humane details of the
character much more so than the crowded background.!

PAGE 12: INT. ORPHEUS’S HOUSE - MIDDAY.!
!
Orpheus closes the principal door of his apartment behind
him sitting right there on the floor with his back over the
entrance door, he can hardly breaths, he sees his hands
trembling, crossing them down embracing his stomach looking
up at the ceiling then looks at the living room, there is
the painting.!
!
ORPHEUS:!
THE SYMBOLIC HUMAN IS ALIVE.!
!
We finally are able to see a close up of the picture and to
our surprise is an unfinished painting of the
hermaphrodite, where his/her doesn’t have wings but flies/
levitates over a river during an afternoon in an autumn
day, he/she has an aureola behind his/her head that is
modestly illuminated by it, the rest of his/her body is
circle by several fireflies, his/her reflection below in
the water is deformed. He/she is tenderly smiling at her
deformed reflection, behind he/her looks like a deep still
shapeless forest, some parts are still in sketch form.!

PAGE 13 / PAGE 14: INT. ORPHEUS’S HOUSE - ROOM — MIDDAY.!
!
Watching the unfinished image there, remembering he saw his
own creation with life and directly talking at him makes
him silently cry in a muted desperation that he almost
can’t contain, he strongly covers his mouth with both
hands, he can’t keep watching at the painting, cowardly and
shaking stands up to go to his room.!
!
Orpheus walks across the living room and it feels longer
than it seems, he sees the door of his room farther and
farther away from him, he keeps walking but feels he won’t
ever reach to open it, worst of all, he feels he is going
backwards instead of forward, nonetheless he is finally at
the front of the door and takes his time to open it.!
!
The door is open and someone lies on the bed covered with a
comfortable sheet.!
!
At first glance, Orpheus can’t recognise the person but the
closer he gets, watching the back of that person, he
finally knows is Alma who is sleeping there.!
!
As noiseless as he can be, Orpheus takes a chair that is in
his room putting it in front of Alma, he sits there calmly
watching her sleeping when she moves and opening her eyes
gazes back at him, both smiling dearly at each other.!
!
NOTES:!
The physical aspect of the characters could be free of any
racial depiction, I guess, considering the fact that the
story happens in an imaginary world and an imaginary city
yet with a certain feel of grounded realism, besides the
specifics of age, I believe the characters could be anyone
from anywhere, even when certain historical and symbolistic
themes are inspired by Early Pagan Christian Religions,
passages from the Bible itself and Greek Mythologies.
