OU Field Report

After 16 years of teaching 5th grade, first at Lakewood and then Heritage Elementary,

this year, I took on the new role of Teacher Leader/Education Association President in Huron

Valley. JIll Brower, Principal of Lakewood Elementary was my mentor. She has worked in Huron

Valley for 23 years, first as a 5th grade teacher, then Elementary Building Support Coordinator,

and currently she serves as an elementary principal. Mrs. Brower is responsible for the

day-to-day operations of Lakewood Elementary. She is responsible for teacher evaluation,

building culture, student discipline, the oversight of the ASD program housed at Lakewood, and

many other duties as assigned. Lakewood is a K-5 Elementary School located in White Lake,

Michigan. I have also been privileged to be informally mentored from many other amazing HVS

Central Office employees as well.
