Evaluate the restructuring plan that Harsh Goenka has put in place.

 With new strategy in focus, RPG brought in an organizational change.

 Business heads for each sector were appointed. Business Review Board constituted of these
business heads, CFO, Head of strategic planning, CEO’s of companies falling under that
sector, with Harsh Goenka and Sanjiv Goenka as Chairman and Vice Chairman
respectively.
 Common management of Information systems were installed in all RPG Companies.
 These changes in the organizational structure made the operations of RPG very transparent,
where companies could track not only their own progress but even that of other companies
in the conglomerate.
 Head of strategy: New venture assessment
 CFO:
 Financial advisory to all the group companies
 Review all acquisitions and divestitures
 To manage relationships with Indian and foreign institutional investors.
 Division of responsibilities:
 Regional: Western Indian group companies was managed by Harsh Goenka while the
Eastern Indian companies were managed by Sanjiv Goenka
 Functional: Harsh Goenka took responsibility for strategic planning and human resource
development. Sanjiv Goenka took responsibility of Financial operations.
 RPG stayed away from collaborations with Indian Companies. RPG should revisit this
decision as one of the two strengths of RPG was strategic alliance/ partnership with
companies.
 A lot of resource was spent on internal development of talent and nurturing human resource
as Harsh Goenka opined that the other strength was the management of human resource
function at RPG.
