Dietary Guidelines Do Not Adequately
Address Root Causes
• Based on low-nutrient starchy staples that contribute to nutrient
deficiencies AND are unsafe for those with insulin resistance
• Discourage nutrient-rich animal protein and animal fat
• They do limit sugar (good!)
• BUT they explicitly recommend processed starches and processed
vegetable oils.
