FIRST AID TIPS:

Jelly Fish Sting


Remove any visible tentacles
Douse or soak with vinegar
Soak with warm water to reduce pain
If severe allergic reaction occurs take anti-histamine meds or call 911!

Heat Cramps
Rest in a cool or shaded and well ventilated area
Consume 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, rehydrate often with water or sports drink
Avoid beverages containing caffeine
If ORS pack is not available, in 1L of water dilute half teaspoon of salt & 8 tablespoon of sugar

Hands Only/Compression Only CPR

On witnessed cardiac arrest patient or drowned patient:

1. Call for HELP!

2. Ask somebody to get an AED and dial 911


Report: your exact location? And the situation?

3. If negative pulse and negative breathing, proceed to CPR.


Place heel of the palm at the center of the chest of the patient over the other hand.
Push hard and push fast (100-120 compressions/minute)
Adequate rate and depth (2-2.4 inches)
Allow full chest recoil
Minimize interruptions

4. If patient becomes conscious immediately check for other injuries from head to toe.

5. It is advisable for the patient to see or consult a physician or medical professional.

Vehicular Accident

1. Scene Safety
Is the scene safe? -Fuel leaks?- Engine is on? running?- Car is moving?

2. Call 911! Report : location? situation? No. of patients?


If scene is UNSAFE, keep a safe distance and help rescuers arrive faster. Shout and call for
patients’ who are conscious to move out of the vehicle, keep them in a safe distance, and
provide first aid.
If scene is SAFE, stabilize the vehicle.
If door or window is accessible switch the engine off.
Assist patient to move out of the car and provide first aid.

First aid:
Provide head stabilization especially to those with suspected head injury.
Control severe bleeding by applying direct pressure over the wound.
Open or close fracture immobilize by applying splint on the injured area.
