1.1 Background of the study

High failure rates of information systems development ISD projects continue to trouble
organizations and information system practices. Such state of affaire have been of great concern
for the IS discipline for a long period, motivating IS researchers to focus on and extensively
study of ISD project failure. However, the increasing complexity and uncertain of ISD projects
and contemporary system development processes are challenging ISD project failure.

The advent information revolution in the World of business, education, policy making, has
brought about numerous benefits to these areas, an to society at large in the process. To illustrate
the point, there is not only faster transfer, dissemination and sharing of information, but above
all, more precise decision making is taking place.
