Chassis.
A solid foundation for superior driving dynamics.
Conventional rules do not apply to the BMW M6 Gran Coupé, the BMW M6 Coupé and the BMW M6 Convertible.
Independent developments of BMW M GmbH, they embody the M philosophy, perfectly combining high performance
with optimum, everyday practicality. To fulfil these high aspirations, the meticulously constructed M high-performance
chassis has been entirely redeveloped.
The intelligent networking of chassis components and control systems ensures maximum driving dynamics and agility as well
as exceptionally high precision and control. Experience fascinatingly authentic driving feel.
M dynamic mode, a sub-function of Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), allows a certain degree of wheel slip, thereby noticeably
improving driving dynamics. While DSC works against understeer and oversteer, the M dynamic mode enables the full exploitation
of the car’s maximum longitudinal and lateral dynamic potential. However, access to the support offered by DSC is retained.
The Dynamic Damper Control makes it possible to adapt the damper characteristics to suit any given driving situation.
In the standard COMFORT mode the dampers provide greater cushioning, while the SPORT and SPORT+ modes feature
much tighter settings for greater precision and improved driving dynamics.
The Active M Differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of curves, when
taking corners at high speeds or on roads with uneven surfaces. Traction is optimised via an electronically controlled device
that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
M Servotronic adjusts the power steering to suit the current speed and ensures a direct and precise steering response
even at high speeds. It also ensures supreme comfort by minimising the physical effort required for steering when parking,
manoeuvring or navigating narrow alleyways or twisting roads.
Shift gears without losing power, using the clutch or slowing down – thanks to the M double-clutch transmission with
Drivelogic. Gears can be changed automatically or manually using the gearshift paddles on the M leather steering wheel
or the gear selector in the centre console. The additional Launch Control function ensures optimal acceleration from a
standing start.
The optional M Carbon ceramic brake system1 delivers braking power more directly. It is non-corrosive, very resistant
to abrasion, tolerates more heat and contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics
and acceleration. Matt Gold-coloured brake calipers with the M logo make this special technical equipment visible from
outside the car.

The ConnectedDrive Services equipment forms the basis for intelligent BMW

The BMW M6 Gran Coupé, Coupé and Convertible –
Digitally connected for more infotainment and comfort.
CONCIERGE SERVICE
The Concierge Service connects the driver to a BMW call centre agent at the push of a
button. The agent can locate a particular restaurant, the nearest cash dispenser or an
emergency pharmacy and send the address details directly to the BMW navigation system.
BMW M LAPTIMER
Using the BMW M laptimer app, driving data from the racetrack can
be recorded accurately and then analysed. The recorded information
can be shared as a snapshot on social media while the data, including
accelerator position, steering angle, G-force and best lap time, can be
sent by email. A GoPro interface is also incorporated.
DRIVING ASSISTANT
Driving Assistant1 combines the Lane Departure Warning and Approach
control warning systems. When travelling at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h,
the Approach control and person warning with light city braking function
issues a warning if there is a risk of collision with vehicles or pedestrians, and
brakes the vehicle in the event of an emergency. At speeds above approx.
70 km/h, the Lane Departure Warning draws the driver‘s attention to an
unintentional lane change by means of slight vibrations of the steering wheel.
BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display2 with M-specific functions projects all information relevant
for the journey directly into the driver‘s field of vision. With the press of a button, the driver can
switch to the M-specific display, which includes a gear indicator, the rpm as a dynamic range curve,
as well as shift lights indicating the optimal moment to shift.

In 2016, the BMW Group was once more listed in the
Dow Jones Sustainability Index as the most sustainable
automotive company worldwide. This makes BMW Group
the only company in the automotive industry to be
listed without interruption since the index was established.
The development of efficient vehicle concepts and
environmentally friendly production processes,
including recycling, is an integral part of our philosophy.
BMW EfficientDynamics and electric vehicles have
enabled us to cut CO2 emissions from our European
new-vehicle fleet by more than 40% since 1995. We
have also reduced the amount of resources used in
production, such as water and energy, by 34% between
2006 and 2016, with a reduction to 45% of previous
levels aimed at for 2020. In terms of other resources
(such as volatile organic compounds, process wastewater
and waste) our 45% target was met in 2014, and we
will continue to work on further improvement. Production
at our engine plant in Steyr has been waste-water free
since 2007. And of course, at the end of its service life,
every one of our vehicles can be easily and economically
