Forord
Denne europeiske standarden (EN 10204:2004) er
utarbeidet av den tekniske komiteen CEN/TC 9 ”Tech-
nical conditions of delivery and quality control”. Den
belgiske standardiseringsorganisasjonen IBN har sekre-
tariatet for komiteen.
Denne europeiske standarden skal gis status som na-
sjonal standard, enten ved utgivelse av en identisk tekst
eller ved ikraftsetting, senest innen april 2005, og mot-
stridende nasjonale standarder skal trekkes tilbake
senest innen april 2005.
Denne standard erstatter NS-EN 10204:1991.
Denne standard er utarbeidet etter et mandat gitt CEN
av European Commission og European Free Trade
Association, og støtter vesentlige krav i EU Direktiver
97/23/EC.
Forholdet til EU-direktivet 97/23/EC er vist i informativt
tillegg ZA, som er en integrert del av dette dokument.
Hovedendringene er:
- nye definisjoner: ”produsenter”, ”mellomledd”,
”produktspesifikasjon”;

Foreword
This European Standard (EN 10204:2004) has been
prepared by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 9
“Technical conditions of delivery and quality control”,
the secretariat of which is held by IBN.
This European Standard shall be given the status as a
national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement at the latest by April 2005, and
conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the
latest by April 2005.
This document supersedes EN 10204:1991.
This document has been prepared under a mandate
given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association, and supports essen-
tial requirements of EU Directives 97/23/EC.

The main changes are:
- new definitions: “manufacturer” , “intermediary”,
“product specification”;
- reduction of the number of inspection documents:

1 Omfang
1.1 Standarden definerer forskjellige typer kontroll-
dokumenter for produkter av metalliske materialer, for
eksempel plater, tynnplater, stenger, smijern, støpestål,
uansett hvilken produksjonsmetode som er benyttet.
Kontrolldokumentene leveres kjøper i henhold til be-
stemmelsene i bestillingen.
1.2 Dette dokument kan også gjelde for ikke-metalliske
produkter.
1.3 Dette dokument brukes i forbindelse med produkt-
spesifikasjonene som spesifiserer produktenes tekniske
leveringsbetingelser.
MERKNAD 1 Listen av informasjon som kan være
inkludert i kontrolldokumentene er å finne i passende
dokumenter, f. eks. NS-EN 10168 for stål.

2 Termer og definisjoner
I denne standarden gjelder følgende termer og defini-
sjoner:
2.1 ikke-spesifikk kontroll

1 Scope
1.1 This document specifies the different types of in-
spection documents supplied to the purchaser, in ac-
cordance with the requirements of the order, for the
delivery of all metallic products e.g. plates, sheets, bars,
forgings, castings, whatever their method of production.
1.2 This document may also apply to non-metallic prod-
ucts.
1.3 This document is used in conjunction with the prod-
uct specifications which specify the technical delivery
conditions of the products.
NOTE 1 The list of information that may be included in
the inspection documents can be found in appropriate
documents, e.g. EN 10168 for steel.

2 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms
and definitions apply.
2.1 non-specific inspection
inspection carried out by the manufacturer in accor-
dance with his own procedures to assess whether
products defined by the same product specification and
made by the same manufacturing process, are in com-
pliance with the requirements of the order or not.
The products inspected are not necessarily the prod-
ucts actually supplied
2.2 specific inspection
inspection carried out, before delivery, according to the
product specification, on the products to be supplied or
on test units of which the products supplied are part, in
order to verify that these products are in compliance
with the requirements of the order
2.3 manufacturer
organization that manufactures the respective products
according to the requirements of the order and to the
properties specified in the referenced product specifica-
tion
2.4 intermediary
organization which is supplied with products by the
manufacturers and which then in turn supplies them
without further processing or after processing without
changing the properties specified in the purchase order
and referenced product specification
2.5 product specification
complete detailed technical requirements relevant for
the order, stated in written form e.g. referenced regula-
tions, standards and other specifications

3.1 Verksattest “type 2.1”
Dokument der produsenten erklærer at de leverte pro-

Dokument der produsenten erklærer at de leverte pro-
duktene er i samsvar med kravene i bestillingen. Do-

4 Kontrolldokumenter basert på spesifikk
kontroll
4.1 Kontrollsertifikat 3.1 “type 3.1”
Dokument utstedt av produsenten, der produsenten
erklærer at de leverte produkter er i samsvar med kra-
vene i bestillingen. Dokumentet skal angi prøvingsresul-
tater.
Prøvingspartiet og prøvingene som skal utføres, er
definert i produktspesifikasjonen, den offentlige forskrif-
ten og tilhørende regler og/eller bestillingen.
Dokumentet er gjort gyldig av en autorisert kontrollre-
presentant fra produsenten som er uavhengig av pro-
duksjonsavdelingen.
Det skal være tillatt for produsenten å overføre relevan-
te prøvingsresultater til kontrollsertifikatet 3.1, fremskaf-
fet ved spesifikk kontroll av primære eller innkommende
produkter som benyttes, forutsatt at produsenten har
sporbare prosedyrer og kan sørge for tilsvarende kont-
rolldokumenter som er påkrevd.
4.2 Kontrollsertifikat 3.2 “type 3.2”
Dokument produsert både av den autoriserte kontrollre-
presentanten fra produsenten som er uavhengig av
produksjonsavdelingen, og av enten kjøpers autoriserte
kontrollrepresentant eller av en kontrollør, som angitt i
offentlige forskrifter. I dokumentet skal de erklære at de
leverte produktene er i samsvar med kravene i bestil-
lingen. Dokumentet skal angi prøvingsresultater.
Det skal være tillatt for produsenten å overføre til kont-
rollsertifikatet 3.2 relevante prøvingsresultater fremskaf-
fet ved spesifikk kontroll av primære eller innkommende
produkter som benyttes, forutsatt at produsenten har

3 Inspection documents based on non-
specific inspection
3.1 Declaration of compliance with the order “type 2.1”
Document in which the manufacturer declares that the
products supplied are in compliance with the require-
ments of the order, without inclusion of test results.
3.2 Test report “type 2.2”
Document in which the manufacturer declares that the
products supplied are in compliance with the require-
ments of the order and in which he supplies test results
based on non-specific inspection.

specific inspection
4.1 Inspection certificate 3.1 “type 3.1”

Document issued by the manufacturer in which he
declares that the products supplied are in compliance
with the requirements of the order and in which he
supplies test results.
The test unit and the tests to be carried out are defined
by the product specification, the official regulation and
corresponding rules and/or the order.
The document is validated by the manufacturer’s au-
thorized inspection representative, independent of the-
manufacturing department.
It shall be permissible for the manufacturer to transfer
on to the inspection certificate 3.1 relevant test results
obtained by specific inspection on primary or incoming
products he uses, provided that the manufacturer oper-
ates traceability procedures and can provide the corre-
sponding inspection documents required.
4.2 Inspection certificate 3.2 “type 3.2”
Document prepared by both the manufacturer’s author-
ized inspection representative, independent of the
manufacturing department and either the purchaser’s
authorized inspection representative or the inspector
designated by the official regulations and in which they
declare that the products supplied are in compliance
with the requirements of the order and in which test
results are supplied.
It shall be permissible for the manufacturer to transfer
on to the inspection certificate 3.2 relevant test results
obtained by specific inspection on primary or incoming
products he uses, provided that the manufacturer oper-
ates traceability procedures and can provide the corre-
sponding inspection documents required.
