Chapter 1:

Darkness. Darkness was all I could see. Pitch black, it was

relaxing until it wasn't. A large crash came from outside the
bedroom making me immediately wake up checking if the
door was locked . I guess that's our cue to leave. I woke up the
small boy next to me that had been sleeping, while the noise
from outside still rung in our ears. I slowly caressed his arm
to wake him up.
"Wake up sleepyhead" I said with a small smile on my face.

"What time is it?" He said as his small arms rose above his
head stretching.

"It's 7:20 and school starts at 8:00. We have to get ready." I

said putting on my uniform skirt.

"Is he at it again?" He asked stopping and looking at me with

his pure, soft, brown eyes. I stopped buttoning my uniform
shirt and looked at him.

"Yeah. Don't worry he won't hurt you" I said with a small

reassuring smile on my face. I sat next to him with my half
button shirt and hugged him. "You know whenever I get sad I
just think, we are on a Elevator going up. Or a Hellevator. But
you should probably not say that" I said chuckling watching
a smile creep onto his face.

"We are on a elevator going up" he said, the smile getting

bigger. I laughed and nodded my head.

"Yes and soon we will be rising to the top. And when we are I'll
bring you all over the world with me. But first we have to get
dressed for school." I finished buttoning my uniform top and
helped him put on his. We were both ready to leave and it was
around 7:30. I looked at him and he nodded his head. I slowly
opened the door to Him, my father, sitting on the couch passed
out. We slowly crept out of the room tip toeing, as to not wake
him up. We made it to the front door and quickly unlocked it
escaping that hell. Well, escaping it for the next few hours. We
started walking hand in hand through our neighbourhood to
school. We didn't live in the best neighbourhood but we didn't
live in a bad neighbourhood. I dropped him off at his school
with a kiss and "love you", then made my way to school. As I
got closer I could see kids with the same uniform as I and the
faces I see everyday, getting closer. I walked in the school with
a expressionless face and went to my locker. I got the books
that I needed as other students watched and moved away.
Most to all of the students in the school were scared of me, I
never did anything to make them scared except do nothing at
all. I'm not a very social girl and I don't have friends in the
school, because of this everybody became curious about me.
My quietness brought them to start rumours that I was the
daughter of an important gang leader. I am not, but I can be
dangerous, not that I want to, but I can. So I never corrected
the rumours, not like they would believe me if I did, but I never
fed the lie either. I walked in class as I heard some students
near my desk murmuring about a youtube page.

"Omg did you hear SimplySeol's new cover?!" said one girl
sitting on her chair

"Yeah! She did a BTS cover! And it was so good! I wish she
wasn’t anonymous" responded another girl sitting on the
first girl's desk.

" I bet she's hot!" a boy joined in. My mistake. Not A boy, THE
class playboy. Park Daehyun.

"Shut Up Daehyun! But talking about BTS did you hear that
they are finally going to reveal the secret 7th member after so
long?!" said the first girl again

"Omg yeah I wonder when. I bet he is hot though." said the

second girl. I took out my books from my book-bag and
waited for the teacher to come. The first girl sitting on her
chair called out to me.

"Hey!" She called out. I looked to where she was sitting with
my famous expressionless face making her flinch a bit.

"Yes?" I responded blandly

"You know BTS? Or that youtuber named SimplySeol?" She

asked. There was something about her making me feel that
there was more to what she was saying.

"I heard of them." I responded not breaking eye contact

"REALLY?!" she blurted out and loudly, if I may add. I

watched her stand up and walk towards me. "I didn't know
that a gang would be able to know something that isn't bad"
she said with a smirk on her face. Everybody turned to her
and was finding amusement in her "diss". I blandly looked at
her once more and spoke.

"And I didn't know that a dumb girl like you would know
how to speak correctly. Oh wait! You don't. I guess we were
both wrong." Everybody fell silent as she came up with
another comeback, or at least tried to. 1

"I know how to speak correctly!" She blurted out defensively. I

looked at her with a bored face. Is this really what the world
has come to I asked myself.

"Gang is a group. Gangster is a person in a gang. You

saying that I'm the gang is saying I'm a group, which is
completely idiotic because a group can't have only one person.
Furthermore, if you were trying to imply that I was in a gang
you would call me a gangster not a gang." I spoke out leaving
everyone completely silent.

"I-I knew that!"

"Sure you did." The teacher opened the door and everyone
scattered to their seats. I stayed still and looked towards the
front as I was already in my seat. The class president stood
up in his seat and spoke.

'Attention and bow" everyone bowed and the class president

sat back down.

"Good morning class. I have an announcement before we start

our lesson. I know it is the middle of the year but a new
student will be joining us. You may now come in and
introduce yourself." We all looked to the door curious to see
who was the new student. A boy walked in the classroom with
a small smile on his face and bowed.

"Hello! My name is Kim Taehyung, please take care of me" He

looked at the teacher and the teacher smiled. I turned my head
to look out the window which was right next to me on my left.

"Okay Taehyung, You can go sit next to Y/N." I turned my

head to the front, then looked at the empty chair next to me.
"Y/N please raise your hand" I raised my hand and Taehyung
made his way to me. I lowered my hand and moved my book
bag off the chair so he could sit. He sat down and class
started. The teacher started talking about a project he wanted
us to do. When I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to my side
and saw Taehyung smiling.

"Hi, I'm Taehyung!"

Without even knowing, those few words are what started

everything, or should I say, ended everything.

But the question is: Was this good, or was it bad?

Chapter 2:

"Hi, I'm Taehyung!" He had a friendly smile on his face and

his eyes sparkled, classic pretty boy. I wanted to ignore him
but I'm not rude. I may be mean, but I am not rude. I slightly
bowed my head and spoke. Maybe that was a mistake. "Hi.
Seolhyun." I faced the teacher once again and thought it
would stop there, but it didn't. "Sorry to bother you again." I
looked at him once again and he had a guilty smile on his
face. One of those smiles a kid would give his parent when he
did something wrong. "It's ok. What do you need?" I said with
my expressionless face. "I woke up late and forgot to bring
something to write with. Can I borrow a pen or pencil?" I
nodded my head and turned to my left. My back curved
down and my hand reached into my black bookbag, reaching
for my pencil case. I took out a pen and pencil and gave
Taehyung both of them. "I don't know which you would
prefer." He took the two and thanked me. The hours passed by.
Our different teachers came into our room and talked about
the lesson like usual. In between classes a few of the girls
would come up to Taehyung and try to flirt but he would
respectfully shoo them away. It was surprising actually, I
mean he is a pretty attractive dude and girls are throwing
themselves at him. If this happened to Daehyun he would
respectfully AGREE their offer. As the last girl's attempt was
shot down I ironically laughed at the situation happening in
front of me. "Why are you laughing?" He asked me. Without
turning my head I spoke. "Nothing." The teacher walked in
the room and class begun. I would look out the window
drifting off when the teacher wasn't looking. The bell finally
rung signalling that it was time for lunch. I quickly packed
my bag and walked out of the classroom without a word. The
hallway was already filled with students. Some putting
books into their locker and other talking in the hallway or
walking to lunch. I could hear the gossip being spread around
by those noisy lips, nothing out of the ordinary until.
"SEOLHYUN!" a voice yelled out. Everyone quieted down and
turned to the voice and I. I turned around to see Taehyung
running to me. "You forgot your pencil" The number of eyes
were increasing with each second. I held my backpack strap
adjusting it against my shoulder. Whispers started
wondering, who the new boy was and why he was talking to
me. "Also can you tell me where the cafeteria is?" The whispers
got louder and my grip on my backpack got tighter. "The
cafeteria is down the hall. You turn right and there are double
doors that will lead you there." I spoke showing him with my
hands. "Ok thanks" I nodded my hands and started walking
to the opposite direction of the cafeteria. I was already down the
hallway when he called out but I didn't hear him, probably
something about my pencils. I walked to my locker and got
my lunch. I walked to the cafeteria opening the double doors,
having eyes stick on me as I tried to walk to an outdoor lunch
table. But a certain pair of eyes caught my attention. My
eyes trailed to a table of seven boys. The famous BTS and...
Taehyung. I passed by their table walking to the cafeteria door
when a hand stopped me. Someone held my arm making me
turn. "Seolhyun! I forgot to give you back your pencils
before." Taehyung said. I saw the stares of the other six boys at
the table on me. I looked at them and then at my arm. With
my free arm I took Taehyung's hand off my arm. "Keep
them." I turned to walk again. "You want to sit with us?" his
invitation caught me off guard. "Taehyung!" the six boys
whispered to him. I turned to my head and gave a weak laugh.
"Majority rules." I walked away. "Guys! Don't be rude! Seo-"
he turned his head from BTS to where I was supposed to be, to
find that I was already out of the door. He watched me sit
down at a table outside through the big glass windows. He
sighed and sat back down. "Taehyung, you don't want to be
friends with that girl" RM said "Yeah RM is right. She is the
daughter of a really important gang leader apparently" added
in Jin "I don't know guys. She doesn't seem dangerous."
Spoke Taehyung "Well she is. Just stay away from her" said
Jimin. He played with his food as his eyes trailed to the
windows where I was sitting with my earphone in my ear. It
was winter now so nobody ate their lunch outside. Nobody but
me, and I liked it that way. I put my earphone in my ear and
ate my sandwich. The bell rang once again and the many feet
moved through the hallways and into the classrooms. I walked
into class with my earphone still attached and sat in my seat.
Taehyung was already there watching me as I moved. "Sorry
for my friends. That was very rude of them" he said. I turned
my head to him. "They are your friends?" I asked
unconsciously. But it was on my mind the entire lunch
period. "Yeah.." I turned my head back to the front. "It's fine.
But they are right you know" he looked at me confused "You
should stay away from me. I am dangerous" his confused
expression changed into a surprised one. "How did you know
they said that?" "I didn't, until just now. But I figured that's
what they would say." "What if I don't want to stay away
from you?" he asked leading me to face him. "You're digging
your own grave. And I don't want to be friends with you so..."
before Taehyung could say anything more the teacher walked
in. We bowed and he started talking about the lesson. The day
felt like it would never end but then again, it's not like I have
anything waiting for me after school. The time slowly tickled
by until it was finally dismissal. I packed my things
slinging my backpack around my shoulder. I walked out of
school and walked to his school. I saw him running to me with
a big smile on his face. "Noona!" "Hi Youngjin! How was
school?" I asked him with a smile on my face 4 "It was
good...boring but good." I smiled and we walked back home.
Father was usually out gambling his money away during
this time, so it was safe to go home. We walked inside and I
was not expecting this to happen. The house was quiet, too
quiet. Youngjin was too my left and the door was on my
right. We stepped inside the house and the door slammed
revealing a figure. It was him...father. He was drunk and
angry. "YOU!" he yelled and leapt forward. I guarded
Youngjin with my body. Father ended up pouncing on me. He
punched me and I could hear Youngjin's cries for him to stop. I
tried to push him off but he was too strong and even though he
was hurting me, I didn't want to hurt him. Finally after the
third punch he got off and stormed into the backyard.
Youngjin cried and ran to me. 2 "NOONA!!" he yelled crying
loudly. I held his small, shaking body in my arms, rocking
him. "It's okay Youngjin! I'm okay" I gave him a fake smile
"Th-that looks like i-it hurts" He said in between sobs. This is
my life. I got an abusive drunk father and a five year old
little brother named Youngjin to protect. My mother died while
giving birth to YoungJin. After that father became worse and
his drinking problem made him abusive and he would take all
his anger and sadness out on me and Youngjin. He hated
Youngjin since the day he was born but that just made me
love Youngjin even more. My mother was a beautiful, loving
woman, which just made her death that much harder. I was 12
at the time, ever since that day I was like Youngjin's mother.
He became my everything, my reason to live, my reason to
keep on going. The money in the bank is finally adding up
enough for us to one day escape this hell hole for good. This
would all be more bearable if my father's loan sharks didn't
come after us. They are everywhere. They show up at
Youngjin's school, my school, when we are walking in the
street....everywhere. They've never actually done anything
because I pay the money my father owes when I'm supposed to.
They haven't done anything, but they threaten to; which is
why I push people away. I may not be a gangster but I'm
dangerous. I can't risk anyone else getting hurt because of me
so I just push them away. I know we can't keep living this
damn life but we have to, just a little longer. I looked at the
mirror while still rocking Youngjin on the floor and saw the
bruises that were developing on my face. I broke the hug and
looked at him. "Should we eat dinner in our room while doing
homework?" I asked him and he nodded wiping his tears.
Seeing the tear stains on his chubby cheeks broke my heart. It
was enough to make me jump off the roof but I just keep on
thinking.. 'We are on a hellevator'. I got up from the floor and
headed to the kitchen with youngjin. There were pots around
the counter and the cabinets were open and looked like they
had been raided by bears. A big bear called Father. I opened the
nearly empty fridge and took out the rolls of gimbap I made
and put it in my bookbag. I took some drinks and other
snacks as well. With a smile on my face, I held Youngjin's
tiny hands and walked to our room. I put down our bags and
locked the door to our room. We both changed into some comfy
clothing and sat on the queen sized bed. The room is mostly
empty except for a dresser, bed, and T.V. I opened my laptop
and turned on some cartoons for Youngjin to watch while
doing hw and eating. The day passed by quick. The back door
was heard opening and the sound of footsteps reached my
ears. Father was walking into his room and he closed the door.
The rest of the night was silent. We slowly fell asleep
watching T.V. with Youngjin in my arms. I Just wished
tomorrow would be better...but will it? One can only wish....
