Creation

The first group, dealing with man's creation, includes the following:

And God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and
over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." So
God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he them; male
and female he created them (Gen. 1:26-27, RSV).

... then the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (Gen. 2:7, RSV).

Hebrews 2:7; and I Corinthians 15:27.

Five truths about man as a person are revealed in these passages:

1. God fashioned man from the substance of creation that preceded him.

2. Man's life-giving essence is the breath of God, or spirit.

3. He became a living being, an organic unity.

4. He is made in God's likeness.

5. He was made lord of creation.

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin,
and so death spread to all men, because all sinned
1 Corinthians 15:20-22
For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For
as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive.
