MAKING TESTS

1. Start with the Base:


a. If you have the skill, you must use the skill as your base
b. If you want to learn the skill, use the skill’s root ability ​Health​ ​Or​ ​Will​ ​(depends on skill)
c. If you want to trust your instincts, use ​Nature
i. Determine if this obstacle is or is not in your Nature
2. Do you have relevant gear? Add +1D to your pool.
3. Do you have a relevant trait? If ​yes​, then ​EITHER
a. Use the trait for yourself
i. If level 1 or 2, add +1D to your pool
ii. Level 3 traits add +1s to total
b. Use the trait against yourself
i. Independent (-1D to pool, earn 1 Check on players turn)
ii. Versus
1. Same as Independent
2. (+2D to opposition, earn 2 Checks on player turn)
4. Do you want to spend 1 Persona to add your Nature ability to the roll? If ​yes, see [C.i]
a. Add your ​CURRENT NATURE RATING​ to your pool
5. Can anyone help you?
a. Anyone that can help you gives you +1D to your pool.
i. The same skill being used
ii. Appropriate relevant helping skill (ex: Harvester for Baker)
iii. Relevant wise (shields helper from failure condition)
6. If you are ​Learning the Skill​, half your total number of successes rounding down.
7. Roll the Dice
8. Before the final result, you may
a. Requires spending ​Fate
i. Open all 6’s
ii. Re-roll 1 failure​ (​ Requires relevant wise)
b. Requires spending ​Persona
i. Re-roll all failure dice (​Requires relevant wise)
9. Accounting
a. Mark test for advancement or if learning pip skill you’re learning
b. Mark spent persona/fate/positive trait
c. If rolled or tapped Nature:
i. If successful roll and test was outside Nature, reduce nature by 1
ii. If failure, reduce nature rating by margin of failure
